What do you think will represent your midlife crisis/what did represent it?
And what do/did you WANT to represent it?
Getting a car, cats, not giving a fuck, telling that family member they are a dick, fucking people 10 years younger, shopping at M&S, quitting your job?

I am a walking cliche of a mid life crisis. Kids leave home, left hubby, started fucking hot young guys, quit job, went travelling. But it was all planned for years (apart from the hot young guys which was just an added bonus!) so is it a midife crisis? Who cares... I'm happier now than I have ever been. |

Well that's quite the question.
Maybe ending a ten year relationship after opening it and it failed, joining fab and settling for less than I wanted in terms of relationships, the kink, the men and women.
Or maybe I haven't had it yet?
How would I want it to be?
As least damaging to others is my answer.

Mine (male half) was when kids left home bought myself a motorbike, first one I had in over 30 years.
Traded in the car for a BMW, then talked the wife in to meeting guys on here for MFM meets, so she would also get something aswell out of my mid-life crisis |

I'm not sure if mine is/ was an early mid life crisis or a late quarter life crisis.
I decided I was good enough and deserved better. Left a relationship that was crushing me, and have launched an enterprise based on my most deeply held values. |

I'm not sure what my mud-life crisis would be. To an extent, I think I'm definitely trying to do more now in terms of going on nights out with friends and having plans for travelling way more than I did in my early twenties when I was far more single-minded and career focused along with wanting the usual idea of getting married, having kids, live happily ever after etc.
I think once I realised the latter isn't happening immediately along with living in lockdown, I've started to enjoy life a bit more and be more outgoing |

When did shopping at M&S become a mid life crisis? Food is excellent, and mens suits are very reasonable.
My ex had a mid life crisis that involved her leaving, having an affair, having plastic surgery, buying an enormous 4x4, making herself homeless, getting made bankrupt and ripping the kids out of our life together. Yeah, it was a laugh a minute time. |

Yes. To me a mid life crisis involves outlandish and potentially irresponsible/ selfish/ destructive behaviour.

Apologies for my crap wording.
The settling for less does not apply to anything past the word relationships.
I did think the comma helped point this out. |

Ohhhhh some really varied comments!
I think mine is not giving a fuck.
In reality what I really mean is realising that caring about myself as much or more than others is preferable, not trying to please others at the sacrifice to my own happiness, being far less affected by others opinions, reinstating the sexual exploration that stalled many years before, enjoying my body and other people's bodies, not questioning other people's attraction to me, letting some relationshis and friendships drift away and accepting new ones in.
Oh and lingerie. An awful lot of lingerie. |

Love this! Not sure if its a mid life crisis or just getting to an age where you are happier and just do things that you want to do! |

Mrs approaching 40 expressed a need to be desired by other men, hence on here.
We indulged get desires but unfortunately she wasn’t satisfied and had an affair 18 months ago and now the trust has gone.
I want to carry on in the lifestyle and feel the dynamic of being lusted after but she doesn’t as she is not happy me playing with another woman even though she strayed.
So now just observing from afar, hence no pictures on our account. |

Wearing dresses! I haven't worn dresses for over a decade. Once I started I have not stopped. I guess in a light hearted way this was my midlife crisis. Or midlife... opening of the chrysalis! I've emerged.

I do have that urge to dye my hair crazy colours and add some more tattoos and maybe a couple of piercings but instead I buy books....
Maybe in a year or two the urges will take over and I'll have a new look

This is our mid-life crisis although crisis isn’t the right word.
Mid-life ‘fuck-it, let’s have some fun’ is more akin to us now.
We go to raves, dance weekenders and pretty much living our best life.
I suspect we’ll doing that until we can’t so it’s really a mid-life thing

I'm not sure Amber, I'm really not sure. Hmmm.
I think I'll possibly go down the route of fucking a few younger people. Oh, I know. I'll go travelling. New Orleans finally. Do some reckless crap there and then get over myself.
I'm going to try and avoid buying a new car but that's a contender. |

I'm unconvinced a mid-life crisis is much more than an American cultural cliché. Happiness & unhappiness, life events, sudden insights or flashes of courage, the slow build up of interest or enthusiasm, all plunge us from time to time into new things .. as for many, encountering Fab (and the cheerful acceptance of all it implies) gave me something I didn't have at the beginning of my adult life. If I could pick an experience to plunge into that fitted the banner of mid-life crisis, I'd give everything up and head off to France or Italy to train as a chef & live like a native.
Learning to care less what other people think (except those you care about), and caring more about what your own interests are: that's been an ongoing & ever increasing pleasure. |

I've never dyed my hair until the last year. I've just added purple and pink to my head. I really don't give a fuck if anyone likes it or not

That is very true. I have friends who have confessed to me that they thought I was having an actual mid life crisis but they now think "Damn, she actually got her shit together and is doing what she has always wanted to do". |

On that note I think those in crisis are the ones that midlife means you sit back and take it easy and fading away. My idea of crisis is not challenging myself not pushing myself and not expecting more from myself. |

I did the fancy car years ago, so that’s not applicable now.
I’m going to the gym regularly, so possibly fighting the fast-approaching onset of my 50s there….?
Keeping my fingers crossed that my proper MLC will involve ridiculous amounts of sex, but that’s looking it will need a miracle….. |
