"Never bought anything off it, assuming it’s secure, but just wondering "
I've bought stuff but nothing over £10. Site itself is secure, but had problems when I didn't receive a volt meter for my car. Didn't get my money back. |

"I used for many years. The advice is to do everything through the platform. "
Absolutely. If buying expensive items ie a car avoid the new user/ low feedback sellers.
And many business sellers have shops etc and use it as another outlet. |

As a buyer it’s not too bad.
As a seller it’s a minefield, there’s a lot of people out there who know the rules and policies inside out and shop expecting to keep the goods and the refund.
Brave because you have their address!
I’m sure you guessed I will buy on eBay but no longer sell on eBay.

"Not when you’ve been drinking…. some of the shite I’ve bought in the past is unreal. "
I accidentally bought 13 CD's of the Bee Gees greatest hits while inebriated a few years ago. Was giving them away for ages |

Been using it for a long time. Never had any problems.
HOWEVER
If you’re Selling, make sure everything you mail is either Signed-For or Special Delivery.
People have taken the piss in the past -Claiming they haven’t received their goods. |

"E bay is ok to use . Is easy to avoid being scammed now "
It easy to avoid being scammed, but only if you are buying. If you are selling and the person buying from you is a scammer, Ebay will always side with the buyer and will leave the seller out to dry. |

"Yes it's great to use, I use it often, I always pay PayPal goods and services and you are covered for loss & damage with them too.
Mrs "
I am not sure if I am right but I now pay with credit card directly as apparrently if you pay with paypal you do have thrir protection butvif forcany reason thar does not work you don't have the credit card protection as you used it thtough a third party. As I said, not sure if correct though |

If buying it's great. No probs. 100% secure.
If selling not so much - lot of chancers about. And sadly for a long time now ebay is always more in favour of buyers than sellers. Had my fingers burnt a few times now.
Buyer issues sorted in short time.
Seller issues can take considerably longer. |

It's not the site it's the people on it.Never bought or sold on it,heard too many horror stories.Goods not arrived, fakes, undeclared damage, completely different item to photograph and a lot of st0len stuff.Probably specific to antiques/collectables,it is being used for money laundering.Battle of Hastings 50p (sold) is not worth £15k,£5 note AK 47 prefix is not £10k,Worn £1 last of 1967 issue is not £240k.Granted the last bit doesn't affect so_eone's usage of the site but if anyone is checking out their "collectables" they end up very disappointed. |

"Buy from sellers with good feedback."
Yes. 97% and up is my go to. You can get some fabulous things both new and second hand that you just can't find anywhere else, or if you can they charge an almighty premium.
I've bought everything on there from books (World of Books, second hand, excellent value) to essential oils and even furniture. |

I buy lots off of EBay. I tend to stick with Sellers who have good feedback, or Sellers I buy from often.
My account has been hacked once, but EBay resolved the issue pretty promptly.
The main issue (if there is one) is items getting lost in post, but you get that with all Selling sites at one point or another.

Often buy off of there. I do always check they are a highly rated seller and that they're actually in the UK lol.
Have never had an issue. In fact we bought a very good machine off there and some attachments lol |

Use PayPal with it for more protection. |

I've only ever bought cars off eBay, but what I did was I clicked the icon, "Ask the seller a question." Then I've requested to view the cars, and subsequently struck a deal before the auction ended. One guy who wouldn't budge, phoned me up after he didn't get the reserve, and I offered him less again than I did on the night, with a load of bullshit that I'd had an unexpected bill come in and would need to get a cash advance on my credit card before proceeding. In the end he caved in, and I laughed all the way to the bank. Obviously that strategy wouldn't be cost effective with small purchases, but worth a punt on high value items. |

I used to use it. Not used it for about 12 yrs. Suddenly £300 went out of my bank account. It turned out that so_eone had bought 2 rather expensive sets of headphones on my eBay account. After lengthy discussions with eBay and my bank, I eventually got the money back. Never used it since. |
