... rocks and minerals
A friend is quite a collector of rocks and minerals.
He has said he would like a sample of something called tanzanite.
He has a big birthday coming up soon so was thinking of looking into buying him a small sample.
The trouble I am having is that whilst it seems easy to find cut gems, it is not easy to find the raw material (which is what he wants)
Any I have found are large pieces and in the late £hundreds if not the £thousands.
Does anyone into this hobby know of any sites or outlets where I may be able to find some ?
Any help or advice would be appreciated. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I pick up rocks but nothing ever valuable.
I haven't seen tanzanite but given it is from Tanzania it might be even harder to get hold of at the moment. The country is in a mess and the stories coming from there are horrendous.
I have a friend just back from there and he is into geology so may know somewhere to source some. |

"Tons of the stuff on flea-bay Bussy. xx"
Yeah I have just seen that - I guess I should join up then
He wants the AAA stuff tho, of the blue variety with black lines in it
Sounds expensive lol
I think I might just pick a rock up and buy some nail varnish. Think he'll notice ? |
