Well there's one for deadlifts so I thought why not?
What's your max bench press? I just did 77.5kg but failed on 80kg which I was quite disappointed by but my bench (mainly the technique) has always sucked |

"145kg on the barbell bench press for 3 clean reps (that’s my max)
57.5kg Dumbells on flat bench for 10-12 reps at the moment.
You’re going great! Keeping up"
That is genuinely insane to me but it's amazing! Thanks for the encouragement and hopefully I'll get to where I want slowly |

"I managed a 112.5kg max once. I haven’t really tried to improve on that since, which was 12 months ago. "
That's really good going! I think if I could ever just get to 100kg then I'd retire from the bench press |

That was me pretty much. I just wanted to break the 100 club, I had a few weeks of the programme left to see where I could go. I’m now perfectly happy for that to stay my best. |

Did 90kg pissing about at a house party as silly boys do, but couldn't do the 100kg I was aiming for.
Never been one to take the gym seriously though, so fair play to all you gym junkies out there. |

"I regret this question already
There will always be someone lifting more than you. Just focus on your own goals."
That’s true I actually much prefer how I look & feel from boxing than heavy lifting but It’s a nice feeling to finally bench 4 plates / 100kg though. |

Bench press isn't really my thing - but can do 5 reps at 85kg on a good day.
I've seem many people boast about the weight they bench, but when you see them try, the bar gets nowhere near their chest |

"Currently a mere 60kg on bench press, really want to get it to 75kg before the end of the year but don't see it happening."
honestly, that is a huge jump in weight if you can only max 60kg - be an extra 25%.
better to aim for 65kg and use them smaller plates and to keep making your technique is good.
good luck in your journey |

Seriously tho, there was a guy who used the same gym as me many years ago a competitive powerlifter he specialty being bench press.
Witnessed/ helped spot him bench a shade over 500lb in prep for a contest, there was about 6 of us spotting him and I don't think we would have been able to hold it if he did fail.
However he was on more juice than a Robinson's factory at the time, his back looked like a pepperoni pizza from the roid based acne. |

Hi 72kg for 1 a few months ago then got myself a nice trapped Ulner nerve in my left hand, so now my little finger wont bend to touch my palm, so had to ease off and now on 5 x 5 at 59kg. Building up slowly, beimg extra careful with my left hand grip issues |

Some impressive lifts going on here. Just 120kg for me. I weigh 105kg so happy with that.
'they' do say that you should be able to bench your weight.
I like to measure my strength on full extended pull ups and now I have dropped into single figures which is shite. More work needed. |

I weigh 93kg and bench 122.5 for reps. Weight move’s weight, so no point comparing yourself to anybody. Just make sure you have someone to lift it off you if you fail. |

At least I had that instead of the shame of rolling it off my body because no one was around |

I came here to say something similar. As well as absolute numbers, I measure my maxes as proportion of bodyweight. Maybe that's just a self preservation mechanism given some of the numbers above!
That said, it's sat stubbornly at 93kg (at 68kg bw) for a while, and I won't lie and pretend I don't want to hit the magic 100 soon! It's definitely on its way... |

These are some seriously impressive numbers! I can't remember the last time I weighed myself so not sure how much I should be benching relative to it. I'll just keep at it and if all else fails: steroids |

Your weight, your age, your diet and your genetics all have an effect. I have never taken anything and would strongly suggest you don’t start. I’m not judging anyone but do some research before you take anything. |

Never bothered with it and what i could bench press isnt what I handle often.
Try lifting steel girders up one scaffold floor per floor x4 by 3-4 floors and then you have to lift them in position
Same can be said with wood beams of 12x4" that are 18-20ft long.
Bench press yeah right.
The same can be said for all the 5x2s of rafters been lifted up the scaffolding before there fitted onto the roof.
Never mind the concrete slates slates and stone slate removing and replacing going up and down the ladders and scaffolding.
Thats in all weathers at that
Weight training is something ive never needed to do. |
