I'm miss actual "Christmas shopping"
Jump to: Newest in thread
Fucking hate online shopping, really do it's so impersonal and lazy, I love the tactical nature of going to a shop picking something up feeling and seeing the quality having to put in some effort, trudging round with big carrier bags and the sense of satisfaction getting home.
Very few places round these here part's that you can do actual shopping, I miss Debenhams and the ability to get what you need.
Most high streets are now full of boarded up shopfronts and charity shops.
Am I alone in this? |

Wherever I lay my hat |
I would much rather do my shopping online with a glass in one hand and some decent Christmas music on. I don't miss the rammed shops, not finding what I want, lengthy queues at the tills, and struggling home laden with crap on an overcrowed underground train one little bit |

No, some of those shops like Debenhams were great for shopping but most now gone. Idid though buy a few bits from the online Debenhams. Still some good stuff and prices . |

If I know what I want and there are only one or two things to get, the queues are short and people aren't being really annoying I don't mind it as long as I can stop somewhere warm and enjoy a cup of coffee afterwards.
Otherwise it's a nice delivery driver doing a drive by parcel chuck for me |

I know what you mean - shopping feel’s impersonal now but I was in Manchester a couple of weekends ago on a Saturday and I wanted to kill people!
Didn’t end up buying much and just felt agitated.
If a shop opened up just for me I’d happily go shopping for presents

I do a shopping weekend the last weekend in November every year
Have to travel 2.5 hours from home for it though! Stay over, watch a show and 2 days shopping.
Definitely end up spending more as I buy stuff I’d never have even looked at online.
I’m not a massive shopper, but love doing that for Christmas x |

"Still like t k max can have good rummage in there "
Sadly imo their stuff gone downhill in recent years. Poorer range and quality. The clothes and shoes especially, though it is the same in most places these days. Cheaper material and quality does not feel the same anymore. Some of the stuff they sell you can see right through, excluding the stuff that you are meant to. |

I Don't really do much online shopping.
Prefer to go out and buy stuff - that way you can see, touch, try stuff on.
Lucky for me there's a massive shopping center up the road from me in Shepards Bush called "West Fields". It's got loads of shops and a really nice John Lewis, which is really Christmasy.

I can't stand in person shopping. Particularly in December. It's loud and overwhelming and people are demanding and rude. Couldn't before online shopping either - it's why I start working on my Christmas list in September, because fuck in person shopping in December. |

I like having a little wonder in the city centre during the festive period. If I find something that i know someone will like great but I do enjoy just wondering around seeing the lights and occasionally hearing music.

Decent Christmas music - I can identify with that; definitely not the schmaltzy commercial crap that you get rammed into your ears in the shops... |

Yes! When I lived in Chester in my uni years it was amazing to go into town and do proper Christmas shopping.
Now, sadly I do it all online as the faff of going somewhere decent Christmas shopping is too much. |

I love a bit of both. During lockdown I had a 50th thwarted with nowhere to go. Online camd in handy.
Living in seaside towns most shops are gone to industrial sites. Most now are barbers or vapes even charity shops are becoming extinct round here.
I enjoy shopping in Canterbury has a plethora of shops but mainly expensive outlets. Primark is there of course.
Love online, order, it's there next day more or less. Some shops do not sell cat grass so online suits.

No, you're not. I love shopping for little stocking presents in stores. Finding nice items that aren't tat and will mean something to the person. It's lovely to make a real morning of it, festive drink and a good playlist. |

I really love the range online. I got myself something for my birthday - a refillable journal with an intricate pattern embossed into it, plus my initials. Got it from a small business in another part of the UK. I don't know anywhere like that that exists near me.
Earlier this year, a family member had a milestone birthday. Another small business - I found something that suited a need they immediately had, personalised, that created a reference back to a shared memory of our childhood.
I try to avoid the big stores unless I really can't help it, online and off. It can be incredibly personal if you want it to be. |

I miss Woolworths..
I don't buy many gifts but I much prefer seeing things in person and thinking "Ahh Bob would love that!"
Now just have an annual trip for the wrapping paper and selection boxes etc, and stop off for coffee. |

Yeah. I hate actual physical shopping. The shops are too hot. People are pushy, moody or inebriated.
Shops play the shittest Christmas Songs.
They’ve usually just got the tat left over because Doreen from No. 5 cleared their shelves of Christmas stock back in August!
Online shopping. Soooooooo much easier. And MUCH more relaxing. |

Same!!
If you want to go and experience some of that atmosphere just nip into town and have a coffee or something, while safe in the knowledge that you've done all your shopping online. |

I do very little shopping on line, I buy my groceries and othe boring items at Morrisons, I go every Saturday at 7am, easy parking, well stocked shelves, very few shoppers and manual checkouts.
Most other things I get at out super retail park, Rushden Lakes 3 miles from where I live, being retired I can go at anytime to suit me, lots of choice and plenty of eateriers for breakfast or lunch. |

I like to go out once for the generic stuff booze chocolates smellys and whatnot, everything else? Actually easier to be individualised and thoughtful online. The only other things are like boutique unique shops for one thing I've hunted down...usually online. |

I managed to pick up a few things in Stratford yesterday I wouldn't have bothered looking for online.
I buy most gifts online now as shops are often out of stock, or the gifts are too big for me to carry home.
I still enjoy a walk around the shops looking for stuff though.

Shopping at this time of year, by wheelchair, is an exquisite form of torture. Already narrow aisles are blocked with extra tat. Entrances/exits festooned with stuff that makes it even harder to get in/out. Too many people in small spaces and who are very selfish in their behaviour. Queues galore. People claim not to be able to see me and fall over me, sit on me, crash into me with trollies etc. Yesterday in the Sainsbury's children's clothes section, I was hit in the body and face several times by people who don't look around them.
Online shopping is brilliant. |
