A report accuses our top confectioners of not paying their chocolate farmers enough to live on. Well it might come as a surprise to the publishers of this report that most people in the UK do not get paid enough to live on. Toms Christmas message. Welcome to the club |

What's your point?
Late stage capitalism effects everyone. Exploitative companies gonna exploit.
Difference is, in this country you get a minimum wage even if it is lower than it should be - these companies exploit people in counties where there is no minimum, they pay absolute scratch.
There's being broke, and being broke, and being destitute

It's good that there's less opportunity to ignorance. . We may feel hard done by but I think that most of us would prefer to do without some chocolate via companies that are involved with rank exploitation, including of children who are forced to work, for almost nothing in their local currency, missing out on safety and education |

Not getting paid enough to live on in the 3rd worlds a bit different to here. You actually run out of food and perish in the poor countries.
I really think all western people should take a month in a 3rd world country. It’s eye opening and life changing. When you get home you realise how privileged you are to have taps with clear water. Fridges, houses and all the rest of it.
You know a person over here going bankrupt is hugely wealthy compared to the average African or Afghan. We just don’t see the other side of the fence. |
