Is cash going out fashion these says? I am seeing people pay for things as little as £2 with a card. Is it just me or does anyone else prefer useing cash? |

Larger stores should have a cash only till, another gripe is with the likes of tesco express, they should have a fuel only till, this would speed things up  |

I'm afraid I'm a frequent "piss boiler" as the bar where I meet my friends is right by a sainsburys express with one cashpoint and always a massive queue, so I go in and buy a twix or some gum on my card and get cash back.
I think the only place I use cash now is the pub and taxis, unless of course I'm just buying a newspaper or a can of pop or whatever. For the most part though, I pay by debit card. |

I use card all the time never av shrapnel... its funny to see the shopkeepers face when I ask for a quarter of dolly mixtures,a paper and a couple of bazookas to then pay by card after all his hard work done ..its a hard life

Got to admit this pisses me off also
And i once had to wait whilst some guy paid for something stupid on his card then as i got back into the car he was stood getting cash out o the machine outside the garage...why not get the cash first  |

Same here...don't like carrying a lot of cash in case I lose it, but try to keep about £20 on my for bits of things. Card payments don't take any longer to me than cash payments - the time it takes to enter a pin is about the same as the time it takes to count up change! |

I usually use cash for £20 or less.
But, if i was going to buy a large item like a washing machine or something id revert back to cash so that i get some knocked off. They like to see the notes lol.
When we go to london next week i shall have very little cash on me and i always keep my cards seperate from each othe |

Im not sure, i know when i paid for something online last week, if i used a credit card i would have to pay a fee but not for using a debit card |

I never carry cash, i pay for everything on my card, i find i spend less if i dont carry cash, its easy to just nip to the shop or buy a take away if you have money on you, if you have to go to the cash point to go to the chippy chances are you wont bother, so better for my purse and my hips lol |

would never get away with it at ours and like other shop they have a min spend when customer wants to pay by card normally £5.00 ours is £25,00 |

There is more of a move to using cards and mobile phones to pay for smaller items. Some market traders now also use mobile phone chip and pin apps.
I'm not entirely comfortable with the transactional divorce you get with a card. If you have £20 in cash and that is all you limit what you buy to that £20. With a card it's too easy to spend the £20 earmarked for tomorrow as well.
The stories about very young children running up huge bills by purchasing tokens in games really worries me as the habit of just touching a screen and clicking on yes is being learnt so early. The same habit we are now using for purchasing real things. |

The photocopying/ printing is the fairly easy bit. Getting good paper is the tricky bit.
People don't look at paper money properly, they judge by feel. |

What astonishes me is seeing folks queueing outside open banks to use cashpoints (aka drink voucher dispensers) when there's two perfect good, and presumably less likely to have been tampered with, machines standing idle inside the branch. |

and that's because we have charges and it can vary between credit cards and debit cards what % we have to pay per transaction |

my bank told me to pay for more things on card as it helps when it comes for applying for over draught, credit car etc. with contactless payment its quick as well |
