I noticed a few comments on the movie remake thread which seemed to suggest that there are a few folk in fab land who are fans.
Are you one? What's your favourite character or story?
Judge Dredd has always been a favourite of mine. From the judge child quest and block mania many years ago, to stories like the pit which acknowledge the readership maturing. |

I started reading it from issue one which Dredd wasn't in from what I remember.
Invasion was good as was Mach one which was a twist on the Six Million Dollar Man.
Wasn't a big fan of Flesh but always enjoyed Harlam Heroes and Dan Dare who moved from Eagle Comics.
My favourite Dredd story back then was The Cursed Earth.
I haven't read it since about 1990 so can't comment on anything since then.
I remember all the crossovers though when it was 2000ad and Tornado among others. |

I was more into battle when 2000ad came out. Invasion was a good story but it got better when they revived the character a few years back. Much more mature storylines followed. They're available in collected graphic novels |

Read 2000AD from the start, that and Battle and Savage Sword of Conan kept me going through the 1970s.
Rebellion have invested millions in studios but to date nothing seems to be being commissioned, there have though been some snippets of what's brewing...
Judge Dredd's Mega City One - some concept art has been released, premise is it'll be an anthology series and won't feature Dredd as a main character but that he may appear in cameos. Karl Urban has expressed an interest in appearing.
Rogue Trooper - directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code, Warcraft, Mute and son of David Bowie) tweeted in 2019 that this was his next project, then Covid happened. Since then he's given one update that the script was done, but that's it.
Rebellion seem to be more focused on the games business. |

I get the weekly prog (which is tomorrow) and the Megazine.
I love Dredd and Anderson, but some of the newer stories like Dreadnoughts are a welcome addition. The Fall of Dead World where we see the rise of the Dark Judges gives me the creeps, but it's fantastic artwork and stories. |

I do think if they carried on Judge Dredd a tv series would be the way forward. So many stories to do.
Judges Child, Dark Judges, The Fatties, Angel Gang etc |

I'd love to see a Judge Anderson exploration. I found her as fascinating as Dredd himself. And yes, I'd like to see Slaine.
As much as I love Rogue Trooper, I feel that you'd need a sensitive director to avoid a movie version sliding into a gung-ho cookie-cutter war movie.
A character I think should lend himself to a fantastic swashbuckling adventure movie is Nikolai Dante. I'd see that.

Thargs Future Shocks would make a great anthology series, it's basically a Twilight Zone/Tales of the Unexpected mash up.
ABC Warriors could be done as an animation.
Some of the strips we already come close to...
Damnatiin Alley is The Cursed Earth without Dredd. Even the rover looks the same.
Space...Above And Beyond is The VCs.
Blade Runner is Robo-Hunter without the humour.

Because a lot of very clever people worked very hard to make sure it didn't happen, only to have their efforts thrown back in their faces by the ungrateful "lOl dIdN't hApPeN" crowd. |

News released yesterday that the Ducan Jones written/directed Rogue Trooper is going ahead as an animated feature film.
Some cast already announced - Hayley Attwell and Matt Berry are two.
Looking to be completed for 2025 release.

"That would be interesting. Shame I'm not that into animated features.
Spotted Johnny Vegas wearing a Halo Jones top on his glamping programme.
"
Not a fan of animated either, though depends how it's done. Seems it's going to be CGI. It was originally going to be live action but the financials didn't pan out, so animated is the less costly option.
About time Rebellion started optioning more of the 2000AD IP. |

"Brilliant thanks. Blast from the past eh?
What was the killer polar bear called?
Shako
The only polar bear I remember was in Meltdown Man and I think it was called Pole-Axe?"
Shako was an early story back in the 1970s, only 16 episodes long, appeared in progs 20 to 35.
It's tag line was "the only Polar Bear on the CIA hitlist". Shako had swallowed a capsule containing a deadly germ warfare virus. |

They sort of had Fatties in Dredd, one is seen laying dead in the mall entrance in the opening scenes, and another in thier apartment when Ma-Ma locks Peach Trees down.
Early ideas for Dredd #2 were already talked about and would feature Judge Death. |

I collected 2000AD from 1986 to 2006, but was reading it for a while before.
I have loved most of the characters and storylines already mentioned. Though no-one has mentioned the Judge Dredd story America.
I was also a fan of: Halo Jones, Devlin Waugh particularly "Swimming in Blood" and the story when he meets Dredd, I also liked Nicolai Dante.
I did not even mind when the grey men took over.
As a result of 2000AD I am a huge fan of Pat Mills, and probably my favourite writer Garth Ennis. |

I loved Slaine, particularly when he was in "Berserker" mode (both for crazy art and fun narrative reasons)...but it's Nemesis all the way for me.
One cool dude who had more power and intelligence than you could shake a stick at.
And how did he get to be so ridiculously handsome and charismatic for a very weirdly put together alien?
Well, because he just did . |

"The nemesis story about the aliens influenced by victorian stuff is the only one I remember.
It was all very steam punk before I'd heard of such a thing.
"
The very first Nemesis for me, the one-shot called Terror Tube. Planned as a series on one-off stories under the umbrella title Comic Rock inspired by popular music. Terror Tube was inspired by Going Underground by The Jam. It was a totally different story that what Nemesis eventually became, in fact we never see Nemesis in the story, just his ship the Blitzspear. |

I have a vague recollection of this and Torque-armada? |
