It all started with a visit to the Midlands chat room, a room full of fantastic and humorous characters. Was this fate? Well no, it was curiosity, I mean is that not the core reason for joining Fab in the 1st place? Having been on this site now for over 15 years in different guises, I wandered into Midlands chat and was met with instant chat, banter and fun and was welcomed to the fray by one or two Unicorns! This was NOT what I was expecting as a single male! Unicorns, couples and single males alike, all welcoming, warm and full of banter and fun!
I sat there quietly watching the room banter, occasionally interjecting comments or, (in my opinion) funny comments. It was a pleasure to be able to join the fun and be so warmly accepted. There were cams to watch, messages to answer and chat to follow, this is what being a member of Fab is all about.
What was that I just read? A Social, a gathering of like minded adults and a potential club visit? I asked in the room when this social was and, if possible, could I please be added to the list? Messages fluttered into my inbox, replies were sent and the next thing I know I am on the list to join the group in Leicester for a social / club evening.
I feel at this point that I should point out that I am no Newbie to swinging, socials or clubs but have been primarily so as a married couple, something that I am no longer. I also live in Wales at the Welsh end of the M4. Google maps tells me it is a 5 hour drive to the club, I waver, I mean who wouldn’t? 5 hours driving, cost of fuel etc…… I know lets get a hotel. 30 minutes later the hotel is booked and I am plotting my weekend.
Saturday morning arrives, my nerves are torturing me, what if, what if………..
The day starts well, breakfast, load the car, defrost the car……………….shit……………….puncture! Wheel off new tyre, wheel on and away we go. Happy days, dog dispatched to my best friends house for the weekend and I am on my way to Leicester!
I will fast forward through the travel, nothing of note to mention, and rejoin the story at the hotel. The hotel is busy, I pull up to the carpark barrier and buzz the button to be informed that there is no parking! What? I booked parking ………. Long story short, read the small print! I had to park elsewhere. Hotel room great, staff great, food great……… so far so good!
Back onto Fab, check messages, meeting point and time confirmed. Taxi booked and off I set, not knowing Leicester at all, deep in anxious thought about the people I am going to meet, will it be as much fun and as easy going as the chat room? Taxi driver informs me we have arrived at the destination. Really? An industrial estate? Quick message check and very quickly realise the driver has not taken me to the address I asked for but to an address he thought I wanted! I show him the postcode I want to be at, he rings his controller who informs him I want to go to a dirty perverts club and to charge extra!!! I felt so embarrassed!!
Finally arrived at the correct location, met up with the group and the night began. I am not going to expand on who or where we met but needless to say I had a great night despite the adversity of getting there it was worth the effort. I met some amazing people, Unicorns, couples and single men alike. Conversation, banter and fun all round.
Morale of the story, if you are prepared to make the effort, regardless of obstacles placed in your way, you will meet some amazing people and make some great friends in the Midlands. I am looking forward to a return trip and more time with some great people.
