The Chief of Police for the West Midlands is annoyed that his police force has been put in special measures by the Inspectors. In old fashioned policing terms should he not just cough the job and admit they failed so many.

Genuinly I am not anti police but my dealings with most have been poor. Without the protection they are given and amount of union support few I have ever met would last a day in a normal business. Some are just criminals in a uniform. Sadly as a self managed situation it means that the management can't see the issue that is right in front of their faces. It's a touch job but so is the army and I have met soldiers who have had to kill people in their line of job with better personal skills than the average police person. The only people with more of a chip on their shoulder and bad attitude in the job are receptionists at a doctor's surgery.

Now I have both police and army people in my family and my dealings have only ever been as a witness or a reporter of crime so no experience personally being one or knowing enough about the job to see it from the inside.
