It is 1 month to christmas.
Jump to: Newest in thread
It's still November!
Tradition & various superstitions dictate that it's bad form to put up Xmas stuff until the first day of Advent... which is the 4th Sunday before Xmas, which is the 3rd of December.
The Holy Bible tells us that Santa will boycott those who start too early. FACT!

The Retailers greatest ever trick to part the gullible from their hard earned wages.
Treat yourself to a nice holiday in the sun instead. "
Isn’t that just another trick from a different group of retailers? |

No
They’re the ones that convince you to go away in the school summer holidays when it’s a bargain at just 4 times the usual price. |

Do you hate people that hate Christmas because they'll be alone again or those that hate it because it reminds them of lost loved ones or years gone by?
Or perhaps you just have a lot of hate? |

Fuck Christmas.
Yay to spending time with folk I like, but everyone already has everything they could possibly want, and it’s just become so over-commercialised.
And you can’t be with everyone all at the same time, so inevitably some get edged out and get the hump.
Half of what people buy as presents is junk and just goes to landfill.
And the traffic is terrible. Irritates me.
Bah humbug. |

I don't really feel Christmassy until December hits and the decorations are up and I start watching Xmas films. I love Christmas and all the stuff that comes with it and spending time with family is great as well |

I must admit Chrimbo has gotten better...
Since all aunts & uncles have died off & I don't have to be dragged away from pottering around & doing my stuff.
Always hated having to do that! My Aunts cooking was shite too & cousins were like the pigs on Shaun the sheep troughing down after being to the pub.
Do I enjoy being lectured by aunts about my career path & what they would do. Cos lets face it mowing Joe Bloggs lawn 3 doors down (who's a managing director of a company), might have cut the mustard in the 70's, but it don't do diddly shit now. And no, I don't want careers advice. There are things & places you can go can go & do for dat!!!!!!!!
So, do I miss it? You bet your Aunt Fanny's fanny I don't.
But lets be honest the advertising starts in August in shops. Telly's gonna be shit (like it always is.)
Christmas tunes at best are wank with the exception of Carl Palmers one who's title track has eluded me for now ..... Nice, 'n' folky.
Justin what's his face off The Darkness has said he will never do a Chrimbo song again cos of all the grief & hassle he gets over it. Wished he never done it? Don't know whether he was referring to the royalties off the track?
No, I'm not a grinch! I think we have all lost the meaning of that time of year.
More of a back to nature type of person. Old & new. Don't drink anymore so won't be getting d*unk to forget the shit year I've had...
Apart from that I love it.
NOT! |

"Here's to everyone with birthdays from November 15 to December 24, because these days are identical to Christmas so get forgotten."
You have missed January out too!
I have to buy Christmas present now for one relative but I don't mind cos there are still some left I like! But 2 so close...?
But it hits a massive dent in yer wallet none the less irrespective of whether they are loved & liked. I'd prefer to do one big pressie cos then you can budget all year... Yes no?
Not having a dig by the way.

Budgeting isn't just for December though?
Why can't you set aside money in April for Christmas? |

Not at all.
Did you think it was directed at you?
Do you think everything about you?
Hate does more emotional harm to the hater than the hated apparently. |

Huge tree went up.in work yesterday which looks amazing, and is about as festive as I get.
I'm working right through Christmas and New year anyway.
Family are doing secret Santa, so only had to think about 1 gift.
Workmates are doing secret Santa and I picked a very easy one.
Kidlings all want money, so that's easy
I will make a special Yule dinner for the guys at work on 21st, and we will have traditional NYE curryfest.
TBH I really couldn't be arsed.
But I have friends who adore the festive season and I'll quite happily celebrate at the Christmas markets drinking beer with them. |

I’m looking forward to Christmas Day, spending the day with family and having great food. We do secret Santa so only buy and receive one present so we dont get bogged down with buying nonsense. It’s a lovely day |

This is the kind of dedication I like "
The creme de la crème of mince pies ( Morrisons own shortbread crust ) have been in stores since about September so I’ve been enjoying a pack of 6, about 5 days a week.

What's good about Christmas?
What's good about people being over enthusiastically and deliriously happy to one another for a few days then returning to the cold insincere people for the remaining 363 days of the year.
At least they're more predictable for the remainder of the year. |

I'm excited to work and be paid double time. Whoop whoop!
My *child* will drop me off a full Christmas dinner at work with all the trimmings, and family members will receive their bank transfers of appropriate sums of gift monies. I don't bother with decorations, and I'll only have to buy my mum some actual crap to stuff in a gift bag... That she'll change her mind about on presumably Christmas eve |
