Who went to college/uni and studied for the thing they are doing right now?
Or, if you went back to do it again, would you choose a different course?
I’m currently at universities it college open days at the moment for my kids… free coffee voucher tho! and it got me feeling all nostalgic. |

I did. I started volunteering in my sons Nursery when he was little, decided I quite liked it, they eventually offered me a job then I did the study...Two NVQ's two Degrees and two diplomas later along with the assessors award I am very well qualified for my field
My son had a clear vision of what he wanted to do since he was little, studied hard at school and college and before gaining his degree in maths and game development and now works in London for the people who developed Bloodhunt Vampire Masquerade as a creative designer

I studied electronic engineering, including software development. I've worked as a software engineer ever since. I've spent much of my working life wishing I were doing something else.
If I could choose again, I'd study English and History - which were what I enjoyed most at school, and still do. |

"I did a sci-fi degree so.... Actually yes....take that mum and dad!
What is a sci-fi degree? I need to ask. "
A degree in Science Fiction from Glamorgan. A bit of media studies, some astronomy and science. Was absolutely fantastic. |

Nope, not at all.
However, the one thing I had to kind of make me feel less guilty for not using it, was the fact it meant I was educated to a certain level. But that's it. Clutching at straws I know, but you got to try! |

"I'm still trying to figure what I want to be when I grow up.
As Baz Luhrmann once said, some of the most interesting people he knows still don't know what they wanted to do in their 40s"
Is this a compliment? |

In the days when yoi didn't need to plan your career out from the age of ten as I finished my A levels I decided to not go to uni as was planned and went off on a different path. I was fortunate it has given me a very good life and whilst I sometime regret not getting that degree realise that had I gone on to Uni my life would have been totally different and I wouldn't have met my beautiful wife and had the family I got. |

My education has no correlation to the job I do now Ok, I earn “below average pay” but have a job that is really. really flexible around our dysfunctional family, I know inside out & I love for all the wrong reasons.

He'd just say it's a compliment if you're actually interesting, otherwise you're just a boring middle aged person that hasn't got a clue |

I tried to do the whole Sixth form and Uni route while having no idea what I wanted to do. Failed my first year of sixth form, decided I was done with education, did an apprenticeship in IT and still in the industry almost 10 years later |

Not even remotely. My education was picked to graduate just as recessions were happening, finding any job at all was a challenge. Even when I went back to retrain, the year I graduated there was another financial crisis. |

40 years on since I started Uni and doing the job my degrees qualified me for - though I have given up the profession 3x to do voluntary work abroad - but ultimately this is what pays and apparently I'm good at it. |

Dropped out of 6th form, went into work, only now in my 40s have I actually gained a qualification in the second job that I do, and if I want to go on to do the BSc degree in the future and fully qualify in that field

My degree in history and politics is totally unrelated to my career, which was very successful in itself, but has given me an interest which has remained throughout my life, and has influenced at least one of my children's choice of career. |

I went to art college.... I didn't know how to do the thing i wanted to do
I definitely feel a fraud next to colleagues with qualifications coming out of their ears, but clearly i have some aptitude, or i wouldn't be where i am today
Everyday i feel inferior though x |
