Piping hot lean beef stew....with carrots, leeks, garlic & onions with beef & chicken stock cubes & added oxtail soup at the end....acompanied with parsley creamy mashed potato I'd eat it right now |

That is the question...
In my opinion depends if its made with lamb or beef.
Beef is cottage lamb is shepherd's "
Both should be made with scrag end of lamb, but shepherd's is sliced potato and cottage is made with mashed or creamed potato.
Personally I make both of mine with lean minced beef, sliced carrots and onions but I also add mushrooms to cottage pie or peas to shepherd's pie. |
