I booked a hotel planning on us going to the Attic on Saturday but their opening has been delayed.

So, we are hoping you lovely folk can suggest some pubs that do live music Saturday night. In the city centre or easy walking distance of the train station area, please.

"never been, ask mr google about the flowerpot?"

I've looked online but there's only gigs that are ticketed and quite expensive. We like to support local bands and artists. I think the band on at Flowerpot was £30 a ticket

No suggestions sorry. Just watching with intrest as we like going to Derby for drinks (some great ale pubs) but Mrs Misfit does love some live music. So naturally if I can bring the both together that would be grand.

Plus Derby is great for reasonable price accommodation.

We've been to Derby many times over the years but only to go to the Attic.

We know nothing about good pubs,so recommendations of pub with good beer are also welcome ??

Visiting Blackpool

There may well be others who have booked a hotel in Derby planning on going to the party night in the same boat. If you put a meet up you may get a more interesting offer

Well for starters (sorry for sending this thread off on a tangent) we would highly recommend The Alexandra Hotel and The Brunswick Inn a short walk from the station. Both always have a good selection, freindly and a good beer drinking vibe. And both almost next door to each other. To be fair it's a bit of a walk (or short taxi hop) but we have made our way to Attic from there in the past too.

Also that side of town (just over the river) is The Smithfield. Good Ale and nice on a sunny day out by the river. Also can be quite lively (in a good way) on a weekend. They sometimes have some bands on but I don't think that is a regular thing. I think they have a Facebook page for info on what's on when.

The Flowerpot and The Hairy Dog tend to have live music which is pretty good on a night out.

Shame it's been delayed and you already spent money on the hotel

The Bless is always a good backup option on a Saturday night if all your other plans fall through. DJs rather than live music but it has a wonderfully laid-back atmosphere.

Titz Towers, North Notts

What about comedy, instead? Derby Just the Tonic has a good line up on that Saturday. Sully O'Sullivan is great.

Well there is live music and a well known pop Instrumental group performing on the night, I wanted to be positive for you both, but the thing is it is a members affiliated club, I am a member who could sign you both in,but the one night of the year is on saturday 25th nov it will be lights switch on and hundreds of people will be out everywhere, thou after 9pm the roads are open again, there is real ale laid on inside, but you would have a 3 mile journey from derby city centre to there and back again, and all the roads are closed from 1pm to 9pm into the village where it is all happening ,but you could still get a taxi and get off where the roads are still open before 9pm, I could go on but do you want all the travel, any other saturday and it would be more simple but you still have the six miles extra travel and costs sorry I could not be more helpful, If you can get in somewhere for free in derby you would be better off..

I'm sure there will be a pub around the City Centre that has a decent covers band playing. Even better if we don't need a taxi to get back to the hotel too.
