I love laughing. I dont meant necessarily laughing at somebody else or their minor mishaps although that can be funny. I do enjoy some (Not many) comedies including Big Bang Theory but probably for different reasons to some other people.
I love giggling with my siblings, parents or cl;ose friends... I love the spontaneity of laughter in some (sometimes serious) situations ...I just find laughing sooooo therapeutic. And I was curious what makes other people laugh and whether they find it as therapeutic and necessary as I do...? |

"Most of my jokes are about me
Most of my mates have a warped sense of humour too so it can be pretty bizzare when we all start " I am struggling to laugh at a naked man... it feels morally wrong |

"In here - people that look for the joke rather than go straight for the offenceActually, you know that sounds a pretty good definition for us forum people. "
The other side of that are the people who go for any joke first, even if the OP has posted a serious question. To me, thats not a sense of humour, thats ignorance. |

Do you think that happens much? I think most of the jokers usually stay clear of the debating threads |

Humour is completely subjective, what one might find funny another wont.
Sometimes ive seen threads on here and i know they are supposed to be funny but i cant see it.
Then there are other threads that i laugh so much at.
Cant stand most comedians as i dont get it, never have got morcome and wise.
But peter kay has me in stitches before he opens his mouth |

Interesting - I really like Peter Kay as well. I sometimes see threads that are designed to be funny - like say the fart thread - and to me they are just not? But then you said it yourself... it is a very personal individual thing. |

I'll always go for the joke if I see it, but I don't tend to take the piss on serious threads like BBW's, racism, politics etc. as they are clearly more serious. |

I stay clear of some threads when I think that whatever I might say could be taken the wrong way. Not necessarily BBW or religion or racist threads.. just sometimes when threads threaten to get a bit out of hand. |

That's very true. Also any joker worth his salt wouldn't be seen dead in one of those threads. That's where the disagreeable folks hang out you know |

I tend to avoid them as well. I call them 'Daily Mail' threads ... |

I agree with diamonds. Humour is subjective. Everyone has a sense of humour. They are different not necessarily superior or inferior.
For me it's interesting to read the posts of those decrying others responses..... simply because it is not what they would have said or what they think is right or wrong.
Tempting to suggest they get a sense of humour. I'll resist. |

"Was thinking that of course sense of humour also relates to culture - what may be really funny to one nationality may draw but a yawn to another? "
I think it's interesting how a smile, is a smile anywhere - in any culture (at least that I'm aware of) |

I'm always being taken the wrong way (no pun intended!). I have an odd sense of humour, not everyone gets it. Sometimes I think I come across as bitchy or unfeeling but it's just me trying- and failing miserably- to be funny. |
