Etc. needs a full stop as it's an abbreviation. Also after off no space needed between word and full stop.

I'm keeping an eye on responses here because, while it doesnt really bother me if there are spelling or grammar mistakes, I've been making plenty myself lately due to rushing a forum response and not proof reading first before posting. |

I don’t tend to judge someone until I know them better, they might be an absolutely beautiful couple or woman inside and out who sometimes gets a word wrong

As a dyslexic grammar is less of an issue than the content of the message.
But even though grammar is not important, as a Dominant, I expect a certain level of communication, so I will correct those who have bad grammar as part of their application of submission.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one.
Really makes me worry about the standard of education in this country, especially as these are some of the earliest things that we're taught.
I see so many people getting 'his' and 'he's' mixed up, writing 'women' when they actually mean 'woman', 'are' instead of 'our' and the latest, mixing 'as' and 'has' around and also 'an' and 'and'
And,bof course, if we say anything about it, we're made out to be the ones with an problem, being given labels like 'grammar police'
I mean, for goodness sake, we have standards in our language for a vety good reason - so that we can be understood.
Many who are guilty of these simple errors may give the excuse of 'it's only social media', blah, blah, blah, but do thrley really not consider, for one second, the impression they are giving of themselves?
Personally, I don't want people believing me to be an uneducated idiot |

I try to an extent to write clearly, without spelling and grammar mistakes but it happens.
I prefer a message that has errors but had good content Vs perfectly written what the size of your boobs message.
And good or bad grammar and spelling isn't indicative of intelligence. From a dyslexic that has bits of paper that says she's intelligent. |

No it doesn't really bother me as long as I can understand what is written.
I don't assume that English is everyone's first language and there are quite a lot of people who have dyslexia etc.
I will never forget a thread on here where a man was asking for advice he was absolutely ripped to shreds because what he posted had some mistakes in the text. It was horrible to see such a pile on and people completely ignored what he had asked. But no,so many had to point out how clever they were and make smart ass comments to him. A few of us did actually try and help him but he left that day and I can't say I blamed him.
Not everyone has perfect grammar or spelling,it does not however make them any less of a person than someone that does. And while yes everyone has the right to not want to interact with someone for whatever reasons they see fit. I do find the people who seem to take look down on others due to mistakes made in text to be patronising and that is never a good look, I think anyhow. |

I make plenty of typing mistakes in the forum. I have autocorrect off as it was even worse with that. It used to worry me and deleted posts but no longer worry about it. It often has nothing to do with anyone's knowledge or grammar skills, just typing errors. It certainly is that in my case so I apologise to anyone who finds typing mistakes a big irritation. I promise to try and do better. Also as others said, people may have dyslexia or other conditions. It really is not that important if you can uderstand the message/post, certainly not enough to critisise anyone. |

My favourite person regularly uses your when he should use you're.
Does it grate on me sometimes? Sure. Is it reason enough to dismiss someone who is otherwise fucking amazing? No.
Not everyone has the same grasp of English language or grammar. It's pretty irrelevant to how interesting or intelligent they are  |

I am in exact same position (also a foreigner) and I am very self conscious about it. I think in my native language and I try to translate it to English in the same time, and it doesn’t always work. Plus I have a very strong accent and sometimes I just choose to stay silent, risking coming across as an uncheerful grump in many social situations. I can only hope people aren’t put off by it, and if they are, I can only try to give them my own perspective on this.
On the side note, having met you in person, I can honestly say you’re absolutely gorgeous and if someone is put off by your grammar, then it’s on them.

Type 1 being a medical condition relating to a problem with the brain having difficulty processing information where reading and writing are concerned.

I'm off to the library cafe shortly. although I do come across a few linguistic perfectionists there, I am more likely to hear frequent use of "E done wot E done" and "I was like one them".
Perhaps, providing a social area in such a haven of perfection was a retrograde step. |

In messages and on forums, no, unless I can't understand it. I often make mistakes on forum posts and messages.
However, I'm less likely to be interested in someone who didn't bother to make any attempt at decent spelling and grammar in their profile.

I disagree.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with good grammar and the beautiful use of words.
Should we judge people by their use of grammar?
Of course not, just like you shouldn't judge others when you mention snobs etc
There is no need to be ashamed of using nice language, kind words or a good education.
We are all different, come from different backgrounds, different values, different parents and homes but all have a contribution.
We don't judge folks we meet unless they are rude and inconsiderate.
Why would FAB not be a place for all types of people, I think your statement is showing you are a snob in your own right and quite disingenuous to some folks who like good grammar.
Maybe this site isn't for judgemental men like yourself.
You should give some of the big libraries a whirl, they are fabulous places and open to all. |

It doesn't put me off, I know that my grammar isn't the best, but it does irk me sometimes I just want to message them and point it out, here's a couple I've seen recently that I've wanted to correct.
