I went what I consider smart casual to my first social meet, and was told I was overdressed. In hindsight I should have just slathered myself in marmite and held a rose between my teeth.. |

I personally think it matters.
If I'm meeting someone I will make sure to wear my best tracksuit, and the converse with the least amount of holes.
I expect similar effort from them too or I'll walk |

"Matters for a lot of people. It shows you put some effort
So rocking up in leggings and a hoody is no good?"
I can just imagine a guy saying to a meet sorry I know you’re stunning but the meet is off because you’re wearing leggings and a hoodie |

"It matters for me i thinkwhat does? You like them to be wearing them when you meet? "
I like them to be wearing clean clothes - nice shirt - not a polo shirt or sports too - and decent trousers... And most importantly.. A belt..oh yes.... A belt |

I've had this! He said he'd leave if I turned up wearing that. |

It matters to me, in all walks of life...first impressions count and all that. When meeting, I always expected people to be dressed appropriately for the venue, as I was...thankfully it never happened, but if anyone had ever turned up to a smart bar in tracksuit bottoms and trainers I would have just left. I did meet someone wearing leggings and a hoodie, but we were going for a walk in the Peaks so I'd have looked silly turning up in a dress and heels. |

We had a guy who told us he would be wearing his tracksuit to a social at a nice hotel bar. We cancelled him. Either he was not making an effort or his dress sense was too young for us. Whatever it was we would not be compatible.
You should make an effort. |

I like someone nicely dressed I'm not going to lie, but in honestly I like people to come as they are and feel comfortable in what they choose to wear. The thought of someone trying to impress me rather than just being themselves actually makes me uncomfortable.
Bonus points for jeans/trousers that are a snug fit on the guys though because the perve me in me really likes that. |

0ut shopping today I happened to notice how scruffy so many people look in jeans.
Conversely, few outfits have ever looked more incongruous than those of Andy Fairweather Low guesting, while dressed in suit and tie, for for more conventionally dressed rock stars. |
