So the rice doesn't taste like utter shit, normally just throw a teaspoon of salt and tablespoon of oil in, better than plain but still has to be forced down, is there anything any of you add to make it a bit more palatable?

Wine.

Best leave the rice out.

In fact, just swig it straight from the bottle.

My house gremlins like pasta cooked with a chicken stock pot... it actually tastes better.

Maybe the same for rice?

"Cook it in stock rather than just water"

This is a great suggestion. Chicken stock is much better than plain water.

All over

What do you have it with? Is there not a sauce to pour over. You can also cook it in a tomato type sauce or do it chinese style like egg fried rice

Next Door

Add a stock cube or stock, or even a few herbs/spices.

Peas are really good cooked with rice in the rice cooker.

Onions, tomatoes or carrot is okay too.

Only 1 kind at a time and fine diced or fine sliced.

I used to eat a lot of rice when I was doing proper diet with workout.

Tastiest rice ever is, use cold left over rice, in a wok add some sesame oil, quick fry some sliced onions...add a raw egg to your cold rice, add rice mixture, keep moving for a few minutes, add couple tablespoons (depending how much rice you have) soy sauce, equal parts oyster sauce, dash of fish sauce and pinch of sugar...I ll add peas or peppers or bean sprouts or lots of variations to add...easy peasy and lovely
