On my car insurance I always take out extra like roadside assistance , recovery , homestart , legal expenses, personal accident. I have never done included protective no claims bonus. I’m thinking of taking out legal expenses and personal accident as in all my year’s driving I have never used them.Is this something other’s have done or do you play safe and have everything in case something does go wrong.I guess there are no right answers just a case of how cautious you are and how your finances are.

I always ask myself if I can afford not to take out the legal protection. Roadside assistance comes with my bank account

Legal expense will normally also cover your solicitor costs if you need to take your employer to early conciliation or employment tribunal. It's also normally part of your home insurance package. It only costs a few quid but well worth it IMO, as always don't just tick the box, read exactly what it covers.

I think you answered your own question at the end there OP.

Personally I have fully comp with protected no claims.

I use a separate provider for roadside recovery get you home type thing.

It certainly comes with recovery I'd have to check the policy re homestart.

I go for the full cover excluding breakdown cover as I get that from the manufacturer for 5 years.

I just get everything (including key cover, windscreen, etc.) in one as it seems to be cheaper that way.
