So here’s the question, are people today more angry than in the past?
Yesterday I encountered 2 road rage incidents in the space of 2 hours. On the motorway a middle lane driver was doing 60, I attempted to over take and they sped up, so I pulled back in behind them and then over to lane 1. A police car came by and over took us both. Again doing 60 I attempted to over take and he sped up, so I pulled in behind only for him to slam his breaks on and I swerved, the next thing I know he is gesticulating and swearing like a man possessed, at the lights he starts shouting and throwing things at the car, then drives off.
I work in a profession that brings me into close contact with various types of people, and the amount of abuse people get either in shops at tills, pubs, etc. is alarming.
So what is fueling people’s bad behavior and why is it increasing? |

If you’re old enough to remember the Poll Tax riots, the general vibe within the UK at present reminds me of that time.
I think people are generally pissed off with the environment around them, cost of living, winter on the way, fuel poverty, etc!

Impatience, bad manners, no thought for others, king of the road mentality, as for middle lane drivers they should be banned  |

I think there are more angry people than there previously were. Not sure why, is it increased anxiety because everything is so awful for a lot of people or that people think it's ok now to be angry where previously social etiquette demanded they kept a lid on it.

Yeah I've seen an increase in these incidents recently myself.
I work in a profession that acts as something of a social barometer.
Increased stress levels due to falling living standards. Reducing job security. Falling retirement security due to decimation of pension system. Degradation of the health and social care system. Absurdity of bizarre edicts like paper straws whilst we are pumping raw sewage into the sea. All seem to be common factors. |

Is it anger? Or is it just normal people having a shit day? The world's a state, people are under more pressure than ever before and living in this country has become draining on every level. I'm not excusing the behaviour but I understand people are less tolerant than they used to be. |

I think overall people are more angry, cost of living crisis the general economy & it's coming upto a time people enjoy but are struggling with these days.
As for middle lane hoggers I'd like to egg them as I drive past.

I think the current situation with high prices- less disposable income and maybe even the shitty weather all combine to lower peoples mood and they are more irritable maybe a bit more dogmatic maybe their jobs are at risk so their stress levels are higher - i have seen more shite driving on motorways like middle lane hogging or just stupid risk taking - i just focus on getting to where im going and if they cut me up - just drive more defensively anticipating the stupid fuckers - theyre easy to spot. No one wins in an accident. It wouldn’t be the first time ive called the police while driving ( hands free obviously). To report a shitty/dangerous driver. Especially if they need dash cam evidence. Play smart and dirty |
