"Ronaldo is better in the air but Messi is a more complete footballer.
Plus Ronaldo at 28 is at his peak, Messi hasn't peaked yet at still only 25.
No choice for me it's Messi!"
Wonder if he will be able to go again after he has peaked? That will be the test |

I watch la liga every week so feel comfortable saying Messi all day long.
Cristiano Ronaldo would be world number one every year if Messi wasn't around.
They're both fantastic players but some of the goals Messi has scored in big games defy belief. Club and country.
It's what Messi can do with the ball at his feet that that people love to see. That's why he has won the world's best player award 4 years in a row.
You don't have to play in the prem to be considered the world's best player.
Zidane, Ronaldinho and Kaka for example. |

"Sorry four years running...well said MissD SILK "
Thank you very much
Plus I don't want to hear "he couldn't play well on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke" argument.
Please... |

"at the moment ronaldo as has already been said he has proved himself in the best league in the world messi although a talented footballer is yet to do that."
Many footballers have never played in the premiership but been proven to be the best in the world.
Messi doesn't have to prove himself in the UK to be on par with CR. |

and the other players you mentioned have done it in more than one country. messi hasn't. |

Well... Barcelona have won the champions league beating three English teams in the final.
Messi produced the goods scoring in two of those finals (where it counts) against Manchester United (the best the premier league has to offer).
Think it's safe to say he would have no problem scoring goals and making defenders look silly in the premiership.
4 years in a row? Surely the experts know what they're talking about. |

the difference been back in the day of pele, maradonna and the like the premier league wasnt here therefore wasnt the best league in the world, now it is here and many many top footballers have been here and proven that they can take on and win the best league in the world including ronaldo while messi has yet to prove he can play outside of the comfort of those players around him at barca after all spain is basically barca in a red strip.
im not saying messi isnt a top player but until he plays outside his comfort zone and proves he can do it then he cant be put up as the greatest player to live, personally i think he would tear the premier league apart but he needs to come prove it until then ronaldo narrowly pips him at the post. |

If everyone is raving about David Silva or Juan Mata in the premiership then think what would messi do if he was in those teams. Quite a lot.
By that logic we can't consider English players who have never left these shores as world greats, like Gerrard, Rooney or Bale?
Messi has scored more goals for Argentina than Ronaldo has for Portugal in the past year.
Messi has outshone CR when they have gone against each other (with the exception of last night) and that includes when he was at Man U (champions league final 2009) |

neither gerrard rooney or bale are any type of world legends, they are club legends in there own right but far from world legends, bale will be away to real madrid in the summer and then we will see what hes really made of. |

I agree with you about them being club legends.
As an arsenal supporter I hope Bale makes that transfer to Spain ASAP. He's beginning to be a bit of a problem |

First can we stop this nonsense about the premier league being the best in the world. The most exciting maybe but certainly not the best. Very few of the worlds best players have ever played here. CR came here as an unknown talent and left as a brilliant player. Other than him and Michael Owen the premier league never features in the Ballon D'or.
CR and Messi are both truly great players buy I think Messi is better, the statistics prove it. |

Totally agree about the Prem League. A few years ago for about a season it had the top three teams in Europe but If you want value for money, excitement and massive crowds at every single game the Bundesliga is the best in Europe. If you want to see the best technical football in Europe then it's La Liga. If you want to see the most overpaid and overated pieces of mercenary crap ply their trade then yes the Prem League is the best. |
