So the Beatles at no 1 in the singles charts..the Stones and Cliff in the top 4 of the album charts ..is it me or just older artist are still just as relevant today as they have always been ? ..also tbh great music

I guess they must be relevant to be in the charts. I own up that I'm not a huge fan of Cliff.

there are plenty of people who still like music from 40, 50, 60+ years ago, including people who weren't even born then.

How much of todays pop music will still be listened to in 40 or more years time?

Well no, older artist aren't as relevant. That's just the nature of time moving forward.

But it is really nice when an older artist receives a resurgence in interest and popularity

Such as Kate Bush through Stranger Things

Or Kylie Minogue (whose 55 now!) absolutely dominating this summer with her album Tension.

Interesting. I was listening to a Pearl Jam track earlier and was thinking to myself how fucking awesome it is still, after all these years.

Perhaps it’s not necessarily a case of how old it is, but how it was made.

Talented artists can create art that transcends time and has the ability to invoke in the observer, the energy, passion and emotion that was used to bring it in to existence, regardless of when it was made or when it is consumed.
