What’s in a name?

Leeds, Hull, Wakefield, Doncaster, Nottingham

Names are weird. We are given one, we may choose more for ourselves and for children, pets and then our online world gives us even more names to create.

So, how do you choose one for online accounts if your own name isn’t typically used?

Do you stick to the same one, maybe tweak it a little?

Are you trying to be amusing, is it relevant to your personality or where you’re from?

And then - does someone’s name put you off straight away, and why??!!

Meant to be a little bit gay culture a little bit dry wit play on words. I have used it on other sites and starting to like the consistency of that.

I mould usually pick something on topic relating to the site I'm using.

I chose my current fab name though because I had tried Viva La Vida which was taken, and I ended up down a rabbit hole of music related foreign words.

“Desafinado” translates to “out of tune” in English. Though discord in the composition is limited to the standard blues flat fifth, the lyrics draw a parallel between a lack of harmony in music and discord in human relationships.

Actually I’d add it’s more than a bit hon thing too these days, which is gratuitously entertaining.

Ha if I say I'll make it easy to find me elsewhere.

I'm not really one for witty wordplay names. Don't get me wrong, sometimes they're brilliant. Little cultural references. I like name ones because I'm dull. That's suitably vague.

I think my username has meant I've been able to bypass the 'how big are they?' messages I would have undoubtedly got.

You are certainly not dull, not by any metric

I'm not on any other sites that require a unique username.

My last profile was the name of a TV show I was watching when I set up the account and it was very apt at the time.

This one was the last word in a book I had just finished and also seemed to sum up my attitude at the time.

It was only a long time later that I discovered it's also the name of a movie.
