Ha ha. Yes. I got my MD to write a letter to the court - outlining that I was a valuable employee, but my driving licence was essential for my job, and losing my licence would automatically terminate my employment.
I got the violins out, and told the court that I needed to support my family - and in mitigation, none of the endorsements I received were for speeding outrageously - the offence that actually tipped me over the points limit was from a static camera - I was doing 36 mph at 0400 on a Sunday morning!
Anyway, good luck; I hope you escape a ban - and your inbox is positively bursting at the seams with tits
PS Ladies, if you'd like to make an old man very happy too - you know what to do. |

How long after getting the points that tipped you into the 12 point bracket did you get a court summons? Asking from a friend |

Have you sent the form back accepting the final 3 points that will mean you have 12? I know some people contest those points rather than waiting until they have the 12 and then having to claim hardship. |

"Fines, bans, hardship claims aside.
Have you considered just slowing down a bit and perhaps you won’t get so many points? "
Exactly what I was thinking.
If you already had 9 points as a result of speeding offences, you should have learned your lesson by now and have made an effort to curb your speeding, especially knowing that a further offense would cost you your license.
Whatever the consequences are that result from a driving ban are ypur own fault.
For once you should take some responsibility for your actions.
Sorry, but I have no sympathy. |

Done a Speed Awareness course today was quite surprised the difference 1mph can make, when it come down to stopping.
Also street lighting indicates speed limits.
Either way I’ll be trying to keep to the limits from now on. |

Not me personally big one of the dads at rugby escaped a ban. His business relied upon him being able to drive. He would loose his business, which would then mean he would loose his home, which would make him, his wife and his children homeless.
So yes the judges can understand a person's hardship situation. |

Don't quote me but you will probably get a £1000 fine and a slap on the wrist if you take it to court,
I got 4 speeding tickets over 4 days (I didn't know the temporary cameras were still active) but lucky for me one of them was only a few mph over the limit and I was offered a speeding course |

If you plead that your job is going to be difficult and that others will suffer, not you, OTHERS, then the court can look favourably on you.
The minimum period for revoke of license is 56 days.
Has to be a very special reason not to be banned after totting up. |

"You deserve to be banned no sympathy at all here"
If you've never found your speedometer above the limit and corrected it accordingly, adjusted your sat nav or drove through an amber light then I doth my cowboy hat to you and your merry men above. If you ever have, then I suggest you get down from your high horse.
I do 30k miles a year. Mistakes will happen |

Zero sympathy here also.
Can't do the time don't do the crime.
No high horse here, I've had three points since starting to drive in the mid 80's.
Creeping over the limit occasionally happens to rack up twelve to the point of a ban isn't careless it's reckless.
But feel free to tell the local magistrates to get down off their high horse I'm sure they'll be very sympathetic |

I think the whole system should be fair to all abs treat everyone the same.
It's 12 points and then a ban.
We all know that, we've always known that.
So why on earth is it possible, for some, but not everyone, to get out of the penalty imposed for breaking the rules?
Sorry but you shouldn't |

30k - that's fag ash! I did 150k+ year doing Gatwick runs from Cornwall for 10 years & not a single point!
On the 12 point thing I know a taxi driver that begged for mercy as he'd lose his job (kinda obvious!) The owner of the taxi company also tuned up offering a glowing reference saying he's an all round good egg,
He got 2 points but a mega fine....

Mine went with the occupation didn't stop the judges being sympathetic. Can't be held responsible when you are a mechanic but received a ban many many years ago for 12 months and this was the first and last |

To avoid a ban you need to prove "exceptional hardship" under oath in court. If they accept your argument you can drive on 12 points but if more points are totted up within 3 years then it's an Immediate ban as you can't use this argument again within that time period. |

I’m about to try my ‘licence defence’ insurance this week… my insurer offer it. I mostly drive for a living so was worth the premium (hopefully) |

Sorry, but I hope you do get a ban.
If you haven't leant your lesson so far, hopefully a ban will do the trick.
I've been driving for over 30 years, never had a speeding ticket let alone any points.

Once is a mistake, anymore than that and it's a liability. Shouldn't matter how much you drive it isn't hard to drive within the parameters of legality
I have been driving for over 20 years, and drive across the country several times a year, one speed awareness course 5 years ago, got caught doing 35 mph in a 30 and it's a mistake I will never make again.
Suck it up I'm afraid |
