So to all the metal heads of fab.

Download 2024 line up was released last night.

What are we all thinking???

Personally I think it's very pop punk in places..

Queens, yup expected. Avenge, yup expected. But Fall out boy on the Saturday... meh!! At least their will be lots of ladies now they're playing so that will be the bonus.

Pantera will be heaving...

Expected really, it's bound to take over the former reading scene now that's grime fest. Alot of the older metal bands are retiring.

I think it's a good line up!

Majority of the bands I would go and see next year I’ve already seen. I don’t know if it’s worth my while

Does Mrs need a fun camp to stay next to?

It doesn't look like a Download line-up to me.

Not that it's a good or bad thing, it's just... yeah it's quite different in theme than other years.

To be fair I never really enjoyed watching 70+ year old men running round the stage playing slowed down versions of their bangers anyway. Metallica and Iron Maiden are the only ones who I think still have have *it*

Yeah maybe, but you just never know who will step up and fucking slay it some years.

Besides man, some of those pop punk bands have to be getting into free bus pass territory right?

Thats's the weird thing with music these days, isn't it? The days of "stadium bands" seem to be like my gone. They can't keep churning out Metallica and Maiden and Slipknot over and over and over again for much longer. There aren't that many "contemporary" metal bands that fit the bill as massive festival headliners. Bring Me The Horizon is the only one that comes to mind off the top of my head and they headlined last year. I was genuinely surprised to see that A7X made the cut - I wouldn't have pegged them as a headline act at all.

So we're in a weird situation where they need to either cast a wider genre net, give "smaller" bands a shot, or keep on rotating the same old bands until they drop dead or the festival does.

Yeah... it may well be indicative of the changing shape of music. I guess Glasto doesn't look the same as it did 20, 30, etc. years ago.

It'sjust kinda weird to see a metal event shift that way I guess, y'know?

I'm happier with the newer bands, I left Download in 2016 after going every year from 2003 because I was fed up of the same old headliners.

I'm looking forward to Machine Head, and Offspring, but also Heilung, Delilah Bon, Wargasm, Vukovi, Biohazard, While She Sleeps and more.

As other have indicated there isn't really any big stadium metal bands any more. Most of them are now 60's plus.

Muse, green day, foo fighters are classed as dad rock these days!!

New up in coming bands; shitloads of exciting bands on the list, but I think the middle order is lacking depth if I'm honest.

First year I've really been enticed by it and me and my mate are going

I'm bored of seeing Metallica iron maiden slipknot.

Loved QOTSA and saw them in Poland after like clockwork was released. TBDM would be amazing to see with their new line up since Trevor's gone (RIP). Shadow of intent are always good live and then you've got offspring and sum41 to bring me back to being a fun 13yr old punk rocker. Heiliung are incredible and I've wanted to see them for a while (will be shroomed up for that one) and polyphia are the greatest in their own unique category.

Really really looking forward to my first time here. I'm glad it's finally my time now!

The line up really doesn't jump out at me.

I love The Offspring

Pantera would be fun, but they're not my fav band.

I'm out now... not another band I'm interested in seeing.

The headliners are very boring for me.

Tonypandy.

Number of bands on the lineup I like, but not enough for me to spend out on a ticket.

I do agree that you can't keep having the same names headlining every year. Maybe it is time for a shift.

I saw it and wondered if I was looking at the slam dunk lineup.

Then I looked at the slam dunk lineup and wondered if I was looking at the retirement home lineup.

I’m not much of a Fall Out Boy fan but I saw them at the O2 earlier this month and they put on a great show, worth a watch. Babymetal were really irritating when they supported Sabaton back in April, I wouldn’t want to see them again.

Wargasm seems pretty hot right now, I like what I’m hearing on Kerrang! From their latest album and I’ve always wanted to see the Offspring.

Still I echo what others have said, it’s not what I expect from Download so will not be attending this year.

Most of the festival next year are struggling for worth while bands. Most of the good bands are opting for headline tours with streaming services cutting what they are paying them. Download and other festivals dont like putting bands on that have headline tours as it mess with ticket sales.

Line up isn't amazing. But there's a fair few bands I'll happily see again though. A7x, sum 41, pantera with zakk wylde, the offspring, Limp Bizkit etc.

A Real mixed bag this year, for me you you only need 3 bands a day to get your moneys worth and that's easily achieved.

It was 30 years ago I saw Pantera at the then Monsters of Rock, I can't wait to see them again after all this time !!

It’s actually a very good mix of bands in my opinion.

Yes, there’s a fair bit of pop punk near the top of the bill, but there are some absolutely fantastic bands lower down

I’ll be there for the full 5 days

Loving the lineup although there's quite a few that played slamdunk last year.

Just bought my first download ticket so I'll be there, hoping to make slamdunk North this year too.

Think this year's is fine, not spectacular. More tempted by bloodstock, arctangent, or hellfest. However I do often feel jealous of US festivals, I know its expensive but just checkout the lineup for Louder than Life
