Birmingham |
Less Than Jake at the Academy in Brum. Got tipsy on WKD before we went in. Took a headbutt in the pit during the support act, resulting in me biting a chunk out of my tongue and spent the rest of the evening in the first aid room. Needless to say, I couldn’t wait for the next one! |

Heart at Birmingham NEC arena March 1988 support band was the Hooters who had an hit with Satellite around that time (all in all it was a disappointing gig) a few weeks later I went to see Def Leppard who were much better also at the NEC |

I was dragged along to watch Lindisfarne at Newcastle City Hall in the mid eighties l, it certainly wasn't by choice!
The first one I chose would have either been The Damned or PIL in 86. |

Solihull and Brentwood |
Had a friend who's brother played in a band called the Rocking Dolphins at a nightclub in Leamington.
Not long afterwards went to see The Police at the NEC. I think two or 3 nights before they split, after their gigs, in London. |

If pantomimes count it was Cliff Richard and the Shadows at the London Palladium. After that I have to skip a few years to see Slade at the Marquee the night before Mama Weer All Crazed Now was released. The next night I saw David Bowie and the Spiders From Mars premiere Ziggy Stardust at the Rainbow.

"Iron Maiden - Newcastle City Hall 1998.
Wasn’t even sold out, yet nowdays they’re back to selling out stadiums and arenas. Just shows how much the 90’s ruined metal and rock. " That was during the era when Blaze Bayley was the singer I guess, totally agree classic rock died a death during mid to late 90s |

A ska festival by a record label call Do The Dog Music. So a fair few bands signed up by this label being show cased. It was a great care free day of people having fun, dancing and letting off steam. A nice mix of old skinheads, skater types, Punks, Two Tone types and a bit of everyone else. A wide range of age groups too. Great atmosphere.

"First gig attended was John Otway, Aylesbury Market Square, 1977.
First gig I paid for was Madness in ‘79.
So you'll remember friars Aylesbury? They had great bands on most weeks. "
Living less than 15 minutes from the venue, I was very lucky to spend my formative years there, from late ‘79-84. Set me and my lot up for a lifetime of gigging, which we still do.
Who did you see there? |

As a single act, ELO on a very snowy night at Birmingham in the eighties. A lot of people didn’t even venture out as the conditions were so bad.
Then in July 85, Live Aid at Wembley. What an event that was. |

You are correct
I detest stadiums and arenas now..
I actually walked out of Wembley at a Metallica concert (my favourite may I add) in anger! Penned in all day, tall men stood infront so I saw Jack shit and no smoking drove me up the wall. Only open air festivals will do now |

Yeah he has a side band called Los pacaminos... I know many an old girlfriend who liked the cut of his jib. Great soul voice. |

"First was Adam and the Ants, second was the Clash "
I remeber seeing the clash playing with snare drum and acoustics in a disused ice rink in Edinburgh in the 80's. Couldnt hear a thing other than the audience singing white riot |
