That I am a boring person. When I'm not going to a club (which isn't very often), all I do is go to work and go home and when I'm at home, I just play video games or watch YouTube or a dvd.
When I'm at a club, I see everyone having a lot of interesting things to talk about which are not similar interests to mine. When I do talk, I just talk about what I've been up to and that's it. Anything else is just a complete blank.
I know I shouldn't compare my life to others but I can't seem to think of anything exciting from my life to talk about. |

People love to talk about themselves. Be a good listener,
ask questions. They probably won't even realise that you've told them nothing at all about you. |

Apart from a couple of holidays (one which is to celebrate my 40th) next year, there's nothing else really.
As for group stuff, there's nothing that interest me. |

I think most people lead a fairly uneventful life if they’re honest.
Not many wake up and realise they live a life full of adventure like Indiana Jones. And don’t pay heed to what you see on social media - most of that is fake guff just for show.
Something to look forward to is a good start, travel broadens the horizons and broadening the horizons can lead to exciting possibilities!
Think positive and keep an open mind. I hope you find the adventure you seek.

A couple of things...
1. Dont believe the hype... Everything in others gardens is not all Roses.
2. Don't talk about yourself, get them to talk about themselves. They will think you're the most interesting person they've ever met.
3. If you're really stumped.. Stand in front of your cat and practise. |

I think conversation flows from a starting point though
Eg I'm going to Egypt in April could lead on to talk about a program about Egyptians and then that could link down to cats, household pets etc and it just expands.
Doesn't have to be based on doing something new everyday

That does make it harder, my oldest is autistic and we have practiced simple facial ques and body language indicators for when he is with people he doesn't know well. No idea if that would help, maybe a silly idea, sorry if it is!

Essentially we picked a conversation topic and I let him lead with questions. Instead of verbally telling him a question/answer was off mark for a nuerotypical, I'd react with a facial expression or a body language action. I'd tap him so he would notice.
I realise this sounds a bit mad but it really helped him and he can notice more subtle signs now too

I will guess that your mind goes blank because you are not actually listening to the other person when they speak.
Conversation is not about keeping you interested - it is about keeping the other person interested and the best way to do that is to talk about what interests them.
They tell you something and you respond “Oh that’s interesting, tell me more”. And they will. Eventually you will find something that interests you and them. Or you get bored stupid and go find someone else to talk to |

Small talk. It's how people start off, It's rare to spark up a deep and meaningful conversation at a first of even second meeting.
The weather. The route you took to get there. What are they doing at Christmas? Do they celebrate new year? Favourite music. All these things just oil the wheels of social interaction.
Before you go somewhere prepare a couple of questions that you can ask. |

Maybe - but the rules still apply. Listen to what they say and just ask questions based on that. The blunt reality is that people won’t care what you are going through - they will care (and positively) if you talk about them.
Treat it as a game and see how long you can keep a conversation going by reflecting their statements back to them. You will be amazed at how long it can go on for. |

They tell you something and you respond “Oh that’s interesting, tell me more”. And they will. Eventually you will find something that interests you and them. Or you get bored stupid and go find someone else to talk to
Or maybe my mind goes blank due to anxiety and being an Aspie.
Maybe - but the rules still apply. Listen to what they say and just ask questions based on that. The blunt reality is that people won’t care what you are going through - they will care (and positively) if you talk about them.
Treat it as a game and see how long you can keep a conversation going by reflecting their statements back to them. You will be amazed at how long it can go on for."
I will have to try that in a quiet area of the club otherwise I won't hear a thing. |

"That I am a boring person.
When people talk there only repeating things they already know, if you listen then you usually learn something new |

I was thinking similar. Most of your verifications specifically note you were easy to chat to and had great conversations. |

Oh right. When I'm down in the dumps, I forget things like this and it's hard to focus on the positives. |

"Boring people tell you about what they did, interesting people tell you about how it made them feel.
Love this.
The interesting people part has me confused."
Interesting people become relatable and entice a conversation |
