Message with our real name in

We received a message overnight from a hidden profile which just had one of our real names in (like "Gertrude..."). That's all it said.
It's freaked us out a bit as we don't use real names or have face pics up.
Not sure what the right course of action is... I know its hardly the crime of the century, but it is a bit unsettling.

That does make sense but I suppose part of us wants to know what it's all about. Reasonably local profile, silver site member and verified.
I suppose we are wondering if there's any way it's not someone being a nobhead. |

Are they still in fab ?
I'd say very unnerving, very creepy.
Take screenshots, times ect and if it carries on contact the police, it's not on and they need to be told that. But imho don't engage with them at all, if you report to the fab mods they will just block you from seeing them but it won't solve the issue.
I guess it depends on how strong you both are as to how far you want to take things |

I had this too it freaked me out, was someone who recognised us from a social media group.
It's always unnerving I'd either reply saying you have the wrong person, block or reply asking who they are and how they know your name.

It's a bit creepy, but in reality I suppose it's just poor form rather than any sort of "crime"... obviously it's got us thinking that our cover is blown now, at work maybe. Unsettling |

That was one of my thoughts, the first initial was shown and I suppose it might be the first female name you'd think of starting with that letter. |

For all the people that say block and move on, it's a good call but we all know that those kind of sick individuals will just make another profile and start again. Not saying it will happen but it does happen.
And yes it's happened to me before |

I'd say that's the most likely answer.
Also don't underestimate the small clues to identity that you can inadvertently give out or the number of people who have second profiles.
I'd say be prepared with plausible deniability should anyone question you and try not to worry. |

Stupidly, I replied with a message asking if we knew each other, which sort of gives it away if it was a guess. Can't delete sent messages so stuck with that now  |

Yeah I did this once myself super early days of being on here when I was being silly and I honestly didn't think I had done anything bad
But hindsight and knowing the content and breach of privacy etc makes me realise how dickhead it was. So publicly apology to them! Never meant in a sinister way just a oh hey you way! |

Ah that is awful! I hate when people try and play it all mysterious rather than being direct and to the point. It's a risk you take unfortunately but I understand why you're a bit unsettled. |

I'm so sorry. That must be an awful feeling.
I used to have my initial up and people would guess, but they never got it right so it was easy to laugh it off. It'd be different if it was the right name, particularly with no other context |
