Thoughts..
We have received some really nice ones.
Many in compliment of the content and attitude on the threads.
Some not so good and led us to change our message filters to prevent lude, unsolicited contact.

I've never had a nasty message directly from a forum thread. Any I've had that way have been complimentary or to agree.
I did think it hilarious once though when a very productive and high profile forumite started a thread having a rant about people using this facility and how cowardly it was rather than posting publicly.
I'm not sure if she saw the irony when I commented on the thread and she messaged privately to disagree.

I have learned it's never wise to reply to pegging threads.
Or to post on threads in the middle of the night when all the single men's wives are asleep. |

"I've only ever received positive messages from the forums to be fair"
They're nice to receive aren't they.
Sure you can guess what style of messages caused our filter decision, we have had a few aggressive ones over the 2 years we've been on fab, telling us our feelings on a matter were wrong.. Easy block tbh.. |

You're posting on a public thread, you're gonna get messages. Good and bad.
I swear some people think it only happens to them though
(That wasn't directed at you op!)

I don’t think I’ve ever received a nasty message off the back of a thread.
I don’t mind them. I can reply to the ones I want to and ignore the ones I don’t. |

Utterly, we've appreciated the (by far) majority |

I get a mixture of good and bad. Most of the ones that are bad I direct them to post on the thread - which they’ve normally not done. If they don’t take that hint then they get the full level of sarcasm |

"Yep, I now know not to comment on any small penis threads or any cock related threads in general, unless I want to pull out my eyeballs.
Mrs "
I always have to write the dreaded "keep replies to forum" on any Domme/pegging threads |

If people are b@nned from the forums I can understand they might want to "join in" the discussion in another way. I've had plenty of those messages.
Could do without the smarmy type of message off the back of a comment I've made eg "you'd always have an orgasm with me, Sally". |

I'd guarantee you probably won't, but it might be worth the practice |

I made the grave error of posting a thread in the Virus forum. Once.
Inbox lit up.
So many people happy to send their stupidity to the inbox rather than post on the thread. So much stupidity totally unrelated to the thread topic. |

I've had good and bad.
If you're posting on a forum and your filters aren't like fort Knox, you're gonna get unsolicited messages off the back of posts.
It is what it is, delete the unwanted and carry on.

"For some reason people who have been banned from the forums insist on messaging me to discuss the topics I post on.
I've taken to just blocking them lately "
Yes! Permanently banned people, I often wonder what they did. |

Mostly positive, all the positive ones generally are the contributors to a thread. But I guess there’s lurkers who might directly message and could say something you don’t like, the threads that are directly set up to cause friction are always best to avoid as you’ll upset someone regardless of opinions |

I'd never do it unless it was part of a forum game or I know them and we've messaged before, but usually anything I want to say to them, I can say on the forums without imposing on their inbox.
I have however, received messages off the back of forum threads and it's started some great conversations with lovely people who I still chat to so I reckon it's swings and roundabouts. |

I don't mind them, if the sender is carrying on the discussion or making a good point.
I dislike the ones where its just an excuse to start getting pervy or arsey if they disagree, just say it on the forum. |

I've read comments in other threads where people on permanent forum bans are asking others to post on their behalf.
Some are happy to do so and run the risk of getting a ban themselves while others have called them out for doing so.
I've never had this experience but in the distant past I have had people who are already regular contributors asking me to post on their behalf in certain threads because they either don't want to be associated with the topic or are afraid of a backlash from certain others on the thread.
I've never seen the point of this and never done it.
I don't understand the benefit of having someone present your opinion as their own. |

Generally positive, though I'd prefer to keep all discussions in the forum, for the benefit of all. The exception is typically the virus forum area
It shouldn't be an equal option to reply privately, to replying in the forum and users should be optionally able to enable it, if they want it |

I don't mind them too much. I'm aware that certain threads are more likely to get those messages - like if I post about my love of cock worship or watching people wank.
So I either filter up or not get the hump about disembodied dicks messaging me about their raging hard on thanks to my words. |

I don’t mind as it’s generally to agree or want to chat more over something I’ve written. The only issue (certainly with the last message received) I generally only go on the site these days to give my Wordle score.
Today is one of the few days I’ve properly looked and engaged on the forum for some time. |

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon |
Absolutely doesn't bother me at all. But unless I'm actually looking for a message I don't even open my inbox from one day to the next, and chances are I won't read a message anyway.
I think that anyone who has open filters can't really moan about getting messages off the back of a thread. Sometimes people just don't want to announce to the whole world whatever they want to say, sometimes they're conscious of not taking over a thread with a conversation, and sometimes they just want to start a private conversation. Which isnt a surprise, as people expect fabbers to be on fab because they are seeking connections.
No one minds a message if it is something from someone they like, be that in an attraction way or otherwise. |
