So many different opinions im thinking- whats the difference between swinging… and just casual hookups to you.. is there a difference for you… i want individual opinions - what it is for you and if it differs from a ONS or casual hookup - how?  |

I realise my definition’s different, but … Swinging’s a broader thing than just your regular dates or hookups. It’s about a wider palette of sexual activity. Threesomes, groups, clubs, kinks, different control dynamics, all sorts of things. All that stuff you pick from in your preferences list on your Fab profile. Swinging, to me, is a more liberated thing. |

This comes back to commonly held view that two singles can't be swingers if they're only meeting 1-2-1.
Why?
Many singles have 1-2-1 meets, whilst also enjoying threesomes or moresomes, clubs, parties and other events.
Do they switch off temporarily from being a swinger during 1-2-1's or are they not still the same person?
Everyone will have their own view, but to me it's a mindset and approach to life, rather than something defined by the number of bodies involved at any given time. |

This is what i was after - i dont expect consensus but it’s interesting to see if there are any commonalities- I always viewed swinging as there is a friendship connection where you sometimes just meet socially but also as mentioned there is a wider palette where you may decide to plan something together and/or with others - and a hook up is just a hook up. |

A social occasion first and foremost, it’s a reason for us (as a couple) to indulge ourselves in the dating thing again, the anticipation, the getting ready, the flirting, the being ‘us’ without the shackles of kids/ life etc, ideally with people who want to share experiences and push a few boundaries. I don’t see it as a quick hook up. There’s other sites for that. Seen this one become more of that over the years though.

Seems you are not differentiating between the act of swinging and being a swinger.
OP asked for opinions on definition of swinging and casual hookups.
I can meet up with a couple for a MFM, in which case I believe I am swinging.
I can also meet up with a single woman (I'm in an ENM relationship) for sex, in which case I believe I am having a hook-up.
In both instances I would still identify as a swinger. What I identify as doesn't change based on a given activity at the time.

Swinging is someone hanging out the back of you whilst your partner watches.
Hooking up is two people exchanging the sex with no expectations or commitment. |

Swinging is a lifestyle choice to involve others in your relationships, normally beyond sex on a regular basis. But of course everyone adds their twist to it. But it's more then a quick fuck.  |

I think about it like this :
You have your favourite meal, let's say Sunday Lunch
.... but you don't necessarily want to eat it every day
... So sometimes you might have a 'takeaway'... Pizza, or chowmein... You really enjoy it at the time and lick your lips
... But it doesn't detract from your enjoyment of Sunday lunch and you still look forward to having your favourite meal
... but maybe you'll add some gravy next time  |

I don’t tend to think about labels and what meet type am having. Can enjoy lots of different meets and fun. Some will call it different things. On the whole I probably use swinging most. Maybe that is what I am I used to as done for years |
