Reports that 90% of reception and year 1 primary teachers have experience of pupils attending school in nappies. Unheard of even a decade ago. Are mothering skills in decline. What's going on here? It's all over the news |

Definitely was a thing 10 years ago as well, not sure where you get your news stories from. My daughter started alongside some children still wearing nappies, no one judged them for it though. |

What staggered me the other day was possibly the children mum at a car dealership, gave a DUMMY to a child who looked at least 8 years old
Re nappies, some children can be late letting go of nappies for various reasons, thankfully all of ours and grand kids stopped wearing them what was deamed 'early' |

Tbf Tom this was happening a lot 15 or so yrs ago. I reckon many of these kids are actually toilet trained and parents put them in these for convenience. Many sadistic teachers love refusing kids needs for the loo and if they’re only there for a few hours (reception), no harm done |

Children wetting themselves in school has always been an issue. I remember this occuring when I was little. These things happen, maybe parents are trying to prevent that embarrassment for their child. |

My thought entirely.
Not sure why the first assumption is lazy parenting. The child may have a medical or development issue. There isn't enough support or schooling places for children with additional needs yet school is mandatory. Not everyone is equipped for home schooling. |

It was humiliating for the kids and teachers had to take time out from teaching to help them change. I'm guessing the 'nappies' avoid that. |

The Primary Schools my whippersnappers attended wouldn’t take them if they were in nappies. They had to be toilet trained.
Same as if they have toilet accidents in School - you had to attend to clean them up, the Teachers could not (child safety and all that jazz) and before anyone harps on about children having accident toilets in School etc., i mean children with additional needs or those that have been ill. |

I would imagine that they are not allowed to exclude children these days who have been potty trained for fear of making them feel victimised.
Can't say I'd want to change someone else's kid's shitty nap py, didn't even like doing my own kid's but then I have an extremely weak gag reflex  |

Along with the one above about poverty.
Lots and lots of social factors an influence on this. Lazy parenting being lower down the end of the list I would say. |

It's pretty simple really. Some 4 and 5 yeah old still struggle with using the toilet.
School isn't an environment where they can freely do so. And accidents happen or toilet training is delayed. 6 hours of being there can be difficult.
So any child who is still using nappies at this age (most are more like pull ups) just gets put onto a care plan within school to help promote toilet training inline with the parents, there is also arranged slots for the child to be changed.
It's no big deal. It was pretty standard practice when I was at reception and primary school and that was 30 years ago. Hardly news worthy. |

Some children are born with small bladders so nappies have to be worn. Nothing to do with mothering laziness Op. I have supported persons and it is my duty of care even in adulthood OP nappies are worn because of weak bladders or anything else that prevents the said person to pass water.

Are you outing yourself as a lazy parent? I've done no age shaming in the slightest. I'm assuming this is your conversation style, your viewpoint only. If not convincing your audience gaslight and manipulate.
I was suggesting you are not an active teacher encounting this situation personally on a regular basis.
You could always start a petition and hope to attain 10,000 signatures to have it heard in parliament. |
