I don't often have breakfast, but breakfasts were like dinners of old to certain people who simply didn't have lunch. Remember being a 'breakfast' doesn't suggest the type of meal at all (nor necessarily the time of day).
lunch/dinner
tea/dinner
(/supper is quite an old thing too, relating to work)
Dinner is essentially the main meal isn't it? It can happen any time of day really, from early to late.
But as I said on this last thread a few days back (a perennial thread here)... When is tea I'm starving?.... dinner's ready!
