In the shadows of the "single man not reading our profile and not accepting rejection" bashing thread.

Do you think the dynamics would change if Fabs used the Bumble approach as default?

Literally default to no male messaging until messaged.

The forums would become filled with “why won’t anyone message me” instead of “why won’t anyone reply”

And chicks would have no complaints about a thousand messages in their box.

Fuck! The forums would become a far less amusing place to observe.

It probably be better but you gotta remember, fabs is a for profit website and that change would reduce the profit from lonely single guys buying subs so they can message more people

I also don’t think the idea would be very popular with women. They hate making the first move and facing possible rejection

I hate Bumble. Its so rare even when I get likes or matches that a woman initiates the conversation.

Ironically I find it far easier to make connections here or on fet than through regular dating apps.

No, it'd be the same as on Bumble, where a lot of women just send "hi" and expect an incredible response. Oh wait... so it would be exactly the same as Fab is now just with roles reversed

Men can’t message women. Women message men to get things moving.

And, despite what some people believe, women do make the first move because they are grownup enough to handle rejection

A large number of women (not all!) just flat out refuse to search, show initial interest, and message me. They fear the rejection (not all!) and can't handle that. The number of profiles on here and on other dating apps (including bumble comically) state they won't message first for this reason.

On a side not I always glance at the name Bumble and read bumhole.

Oh believe me a lot of women don't. Some do clearly, I've witnessed it but a hell of a lot don't. And I've witnessed that too.

I don't think so. As it depends on certain factors

1) male Vs female ratio: compared to other dating apps bumble has one of the highest male to female ratios 9:1. Where as tinder only had 1:2 ratio. No idea why this is.

I do find it rather amusing when someone pops up with a suggestion that fab should use a similar model to another, competing website - notwithstanding the rules about discussing such sites on the forum.

I often wonder, if that person likes the way another site works so much more than how fab does, why they are on here and not on the other site.

Fab works just fine for the majority of us who have been using it for a number of years.

I suspect that if the site owners were to follow OPs suggestion, it would kill fab stone dead

I'd be happy with that, if nothing else to stop all the whinging threads (either men saying no-one reads their messages or women/couples bemoaning men for their messages).

Be interesting to see how many women committed the cardinal sun of starting a message with "Hi, how are you"...

I genuinely think it's a great idea.

It saves time ultimately. Women are the holy grail here and fabguys or whatever it's called exists. Give them and couples control (I assume in couples, both parties need to both be verified right? I don't know actually) and it would save alot of time and drama.

And it would benefit the boys too because when the women ARE in that kinda mood they will have to hunt for prey!

No.

I probably wouldn't have had some of the meets I have had if left to do the messaging. I enjoy the openess of messaging on Fab even if I do get frustrated at people completely ignoring my profile.

I think it would make this site for women and couples only. I certainly wouldn't be a paid member.

In my experience most women in my age group are old fashioned and expect the man to message first. That's not only on here but all the other sites I've been on. The best bet would be that you can only message once unless you get a reply. Would hopefully stop all those idiotic nasty messages people seem to think it's fine to send once they are rejected.

I think we essentially did that by default in the end more or less, as a couple.

Going to be honest though a woman approached: me lovely conversation. I waited politely for a response to my last message.

Then I got it in the neck a bit for being a time-waster. It wasn't nasty but it did make me facepalm .

No violins needed - I am very aware the issue is predominantly one women experience. The exception proves the rule. Life is just ironically funny sometimes.

I've never seen that. I've never mentioned a name or names and I agree, I think deliberately trying to embarrass someone is wrong. I recently said it when a few people messaged off a thread I started asking for my kinks. Which was none of their business and not the topic.

It couldn't possibly just a way to tell people to stop messaging off-thread, could it? Just precisely what it says on the tin. No need to mention who is doing it, just a generic - stop doing this. That exactly how I use it.

Keep it to the thread please annoys me almost as much as oooooh this thread is a good filter.

I love a keep it to the thread comment don't know why but I do, I would definitely miss that!

Look everybody...this person had the audacity to message me and I don't care much for that so I'm just gonna try and embarrass them in public...even though I end up looking a bit daft instead.

(For clarity, these are my thoughts and the poster I responded to did not message me)

Exactly this. Just ignore them. I’ve never got why it needs to be posted on a thread. And people may not name but most of them say “keep it to the thread op” so it’s pretty obvious who it’s for. I just don’t see the need

Alot of time whether they know it or not consciously, it's about attention and wanting to appear desired

Of course it is.

Whilst embarrassing the other person at the same time. I’d hate it if I messaged someone from a thread I did and they said that. Like I said. No need "

Not least because if it was someone they wanted to hear from they wouldn't ask for anything to be kept to the thread...

It couldn't possibly just a way to tell people to stop messaging off-thread, could it? Just precisely what it says on the tin. No need to mention who is doing it, just a generic - stop doing this. That exactly how I use it.

Message them privately or ignore them. No. I don’t think there’s a need for it. "

"Would only work if men filled out their profiles properly and had face pics."

Surely you just message the men that do right?

Face pics works both ways. Many times guys message women and if they're being completely honest, once they see the face might go...oh not for me.

As I've said, I see no reason to mention the person or people messaging. I certainly don't.

And we rarely agree so it's par for the course.

I think it would increase the number of single women greatly. The majority of new ones just leave after a day or so as they can't cope with the volume of messages, at least this approach would prevent them all wanting to leave.

I don't think it would increase the number of single women who stay. I do think that having all the filters set when you open the account would help though. Then you get the choice as to whether to allow messages.

I think you’d see a big drop in the number of single guys. Fab can be a bit like the slot machines for them. Just keep firing out messages hoping to get luck

How many single guys would hang around with nothing to do? Just stare at an empty inbox

But then they wouldn’t buy premium subscription, that’s not good, gotta keep the slot machine rolling

It's an interesting one that I think the principle is good if you assume people who join initially automatically become regular users.

We just made profiles on multiple sites and waited to see which ones were worth engaging with. So the influx of messages worked in fabs favour, initially.

A pop-up dialogue box, or page, when you create the account, where you have to set your filters would be better I think. Then you are aware of the options existence without having to have the knowledge of a regular user.

Yes it would be amazing for us since we don't meeten and have to view 100's of cocks in the inbox.

And no I won't block all men because the very little minority are actually decent humans.

Maybe like 0.0012% but still.

Like most man profiles are just cock pics and Fill in later/ fuck now type text? All women want cock so it can't be that.
