Think I kind of know where your coming from with this would you be sayig that peadophilia is in essance a "fetish" being the sexualisation of children? Just as much as say a " fetish" for women in stilletoes or boys (men) in tight pvc shorts ?

A sexual fetish is in its true meaning a requirement to achieve sexual gratification.
A perversion is just taking something along a route that it otherwise might not or perhaps should not follow.
So I guess the two get confused rather than one lead into the other but may go hand-in-hand...
On that basis a paedophile might be said to have a 'fetish' for children and then 'perverts' their normal course. |

A fetish is an excessive or irrational devotion to some activity, an object such as an item of clothing, or a body part, while a perversion is sexual behavior generally considered to be abnormal
