"I was watching the beckham documentary. Bit about the chant "posh spice takes it up the arse". Do we think this is offensive?"
That wasn't the chant. It was "do you take her up the Arsenal"
No mention of her name but she made it about her. |

"Yeah guess its because she is the target. Was anal less common in the 90s?
It was illegal "
I often have to remind people slagging off UAE this , that your wonderful liberal UK took until 1994 to make being gay fully legal |

There's been worse said in the stands and personally, I think it adds to the theatre of a football match. There are times where it can cross the line but some of the chants can be funny as fuck without crossing over into sexism, racism etc. |

I'm still unsure whether or not Arsene wenger was "a fucking paedophile" he did have that bag of sweets and a cheeky smile after all ;-p |

"If you were subject to it week in week out probably.
Great documentary by the way
Some football chants are savage. Man City singing Bobby is in a box last week for example. "
I heard that, and for me, that was over the line seriously lacked class considering he's bigger than their entire club |

"I was watching the beckham documentary. Bit about the chant "posh spice takes it up the arse". Do we think this is offensive?"
Offensive is a bit of a loaded term but clearly not very nice for her. Don't think the anal bit is the point. They could have chanted "Posh Spice loves sucking cock" or some such witty variant and similar effect. Just not very nice with thousands of people trying to get under your skin with such things.
Comparing the the "Bowen's on fire and he's shagging Danni Dyer" which is sung by own fans with affection. Personally still think a bit crass but at least not negative and trying to upset. |

Now, person to person asking/making an off hand comment? No. Although depending on the situation, I'd say fuck off it's none of your business.
Back then, with thousands of people chanting it? I can imagine it not being nice at all. |

"Once again. The chant never mentioned her.
It was "do you take her up the Arsenal"
"
Were you there every time? Even if it didn't much the same effect if obviously directed at Beckham. Think you are dancing on the head of a pin there. |

Well at least you've had one productive thought today then.
She's misquoting something to get a story and the story is doing the rounds. |

I think it all depends on the player. Man United had a chant about Ji-Sung Park that racist undertones that fans don't sing anymore because he asked them to stop when he retired, but was commonplace while he was playing. |

No it wasn't."
Yes, it was
Do you take her, do you take her do you take her up the arse-an-all
Do you take her up the Arse-an-all
Sung to the tune of "you're not singing anymore"
That was the original chant, unless you know another. |

"Up the arse, no babies
Except Tory politicians who must’ve been conceived that way
The politics forum is further down the corridor "
My comment wasn’t about politics. |

I've heard chants of

Posh spice takes it up the arse, doo-dah doo-dah-day" etc |

Yes and lots of teams had their own variations with slightly different words and names of the following:
Posh spice is a slapper
She takes it up the rear
And when shes shaggin beckham
She thinks of Davie Weir

Didn't they do an Ali G interview for comic relief or something?
Where he asked her and she said yes she does?
I think that was more a retrospective position rather than how they felt about the chant at the time. |
