Do you still have a landline? I do but was thinking of getting rid until the recent issue that customers of two major providers were unable to use there mobile phones for a while. Now I am thinking of it as a safety net but is it an unecessary expense? |

When I took out a new broadband package I binned the landline, that was about 6 months ago. Haven’t missed it at all, nobody used to use it except cold callers. |

"Yes, I didn't have one for ages, but got a free handset when I signed up to BT. Great in case of an emergency and doesn't actually cost any extra."
That's it. I am going to have words with them. I will say if you can give Miss Mimi Rouge one then you can give me one too.

I too have a landline which I use on a daily basis.
I do also have a mobile but the location of my house is such that I can get no signal from pretty well all of the service providers. |

I've got a free landline with my broadband.
It's been useful in that it's on divert to my mobile and I use it as the business number so I can turn off work calls.
It's also one that works over broadband rather than a traditional phone line so as an emergency phone is useless because won't work in a powercut or if broadband is down. |

Apparently all landlines are going digital by 2025 anyway even for those who don't have broadband from what I have read |

I only still have mine because it used to be necessary for broadband, but intend on ditching it soon because I usemy.mobile for oitgoing calls and the only incomming calls I get on my landline are scam calls |

My area is starting to scrap the landlines next year. I suppose there will have to be some alternative phone, especially for the elderly or where there's very poor mobile signal |

For those of you who don’t have a landline plugged in please get one connected.
Mobile signals could drop your, tower could go down and in that moment if you need the emergency services a landline could save a life |

My landline costs me just £2 (plus call charges) per month on top of my internet cost – payable monthly in arrears.
I reckon this is money well spent because the phone works during local power cuts, never needs charging, never needs topping-up and always has a signal.
It’s only switched on to call free-phone numbers.
When my area goes “all fibre”, I’ll have to fit a battery to the phone so that it will work during local power cuts.

But not all of us can have one.
Mines through the broadband so not any different to using the mobile in the house and I don't have a choice about that. |
