So many different formats! So many different types of form! CV. No CV. CV on our pro forma. Fill in an online thing that disappears after you've filled it in and loses all your writing!
It might be better the devil you know |

Some of them are so complicated! When there are more supporting documents to explain how to apply, than there are documents telling you what the job actually is and who they want, should be an alarm bell |

My idea of a job appljobication……
Do you want a job?
Can you do this job?
Do you want to learn how to do this job?
When can you start?
Done. |

Can you get a transfer?
I kept failing the supermarket questionnaires for jobs. You need a degree and a 3,000 word essay about why you really want to collect trolleys in the rain. |

So many jobs don't advertise any salary indication too. I find that odd |

"At this stage, your job is to apply for jobs. "
Yeah but I've got a FT job to do whilst applying for other jobs. The time required to apply for a job currently seems to be approximately double what it was the last time I was looking. I can continue in my current job (boring, main reason for looking elsewhere) so not exactly desperate. |

I had an awful form to fill in for one company. It was asking for my school results and also results of each of the modules within my degree. This was me applying with almost 20 years experience in the type of role. Their application process said they didn't except CVs. |

I’ve never done a traditional job application since I was 19 and applying to the YHA as a seasonal assistant.
Always been a case of someone finding me or me making the effort to connect with the owner of a business. |

ive noticed a growing trend with employers to use video calls as an interview.
i always ask them 'what was the last thing you did which greatly benefitted an employee'.
you'll be surprised how they stumble on that question.

I find interviews these days to be such a chore, now I have a rule that states if they have more than 2 rounds of interviews I’ll walk away, if they can’t make a decision by the second interview then they’re going to be a nightmare to work with.

This literally happened to me a couple of days ago. Thankfully I'd copied all the text into a Word document for spell checking so was able to paste it back in. |

Some are absolutely diabolical. Especially if you have to fill like an exact date of when you completed your one day course in whatever as if I would remember that. Some have been designed by ammateurs using frames that constantly jump all over the place or your text drops down and you can't see what you wrote. Sometimes asking stupid questions like what was your salary for every job you had. Why? And who can remenber that if it is years ago? |

I use employment agency which in themselves are another shit show.
It not easy, I have a CV but it never really got me anywhere, people tell me to put that on the CV other people say don't put that on a CV. Application are just as bad to fill out. It a full time job finding a job these days. |

I had an interview where I got told to bring in a heraldic shield with things I'm passionate about on it.
Pretty odd in itself. So I quickly did a half-arsed sketch at home. Even more bizarrely I saw other people in the interview had actually whittled and sat proudly with their shields on their knee! |

School boy error but I'd not copied it and lost it all. I didn't do it again. What kind of form can't auto save at least some part of it?! Never mind |

Was the job for a historic reenactment actor, or at a National Trust property?! I've not had a job interview in aaaaaaaaaaaages |

"The ones that annoy me are
"Upload a CV"
"Fill in this form"
The form asks for exactly the same information that is contained in the cv!!"
And the ones that take your CV and auto fill in fields in a form! Some of the inaccuracies are hilarious. One conflated the location of a job role with my current address, so I ended up with a UK address but with a foreign country as part of it, randomly |

"The best thing in running your own business is you never have to go through the crap of applying for jobs.

You just have to go through the crap of reading the bullshit in applications for jobs you are recruiting for! |

I get that in my current non-self employed job too
I aspire to be nowhere near as dreadful as many of the applications I receive across my e-desk |

I changed job twice in two years after being in the same job for 10 years
First job they offered me the job on the strength of my cv. The second offered me the job on the strength of a conversation.
I have been very lucky. |

It was an environmental company. Needless to say I didn't get it after my poor task efforts. I did draw a pretty good octopus though. |

I would happily find a job for someone who can draw a life-like octopus as part of the interview |

HR's job is to put you off applying for that job. That's why they do crap like like non standard application forms. If they wanted to be useful, they'd all agree a standard format.
They did such a good job of that, that they put themselves off it too. That's why places like Peterborough have farmed this task off to sick-pay/bonus/job security and redundancy pay denying job agencies.

We very rarely get CV’s these days.
We very rarely get people making an effort with their appearance for the interview either.
eeehh back in my day it were all fields for as far as the eye can see… |

Ha, well favourite animal. I also lost a stupid balloon animal making competition at my workplace one Christmas. Apparently a Christmas octopus isn't a thing! (Yep, we have to do these sorts of things!)... |

If you have had the opportunity to run your own business you can easily become almost unemployable anyway. Difficult to go back to taking instruction and reporting in to a line manager in a never ending chain if command. |

My interview frock is neatly pressed and hanging in wardrobe. M&S finest garb, that is! I have to say I've noticed similar about people attending interviews in recent years. I find it curious in a classroom based role. |
