One of my childhood heroes (think he was one of the plastic busts collected with petrol purchases!)

I had the privilege of seeing the great man playing at Old Trafford for Man United and he will always be remembered as being a gentleman on and off the pitch .RIP

RIP to one of England's and Manchester United's biggest legends. Survived Munich, won the World Cup, European Cup and Balon d'Or and was a constant through the rebuild after Munich and coined Old Trafford as "The Theatre of Dreams". Genuinely heart-breaking

Legend as a descriptor is overused.. not in Sir Bobby’s case.

A genuine legend of the game.

RIP

A sad parting...

Seriously though, what a player - looked like an old man in the footage but was apparently the fittest player in football

RIP Sir Bobby

Oh that is sad news. Legend in the truest sense of the word, and always seemed thoroughly decent too!

RIP Sir Bobby Charlton.Although I wasn’t born when he played at his peak and I was a small boy when he played in his twilight years. From what I saw first on video then read and heard from the ex players and football historians Bobby Charlton was probably the best British footballer ever although he was said Duncan Edwards was the best he ever played with.
