"Little known fact (which may or may not have been made up by me) is that Hob Nobs are in fact sawdust from a carpenters floor mixed with golden syrup. "

"Sooooo many to choose from....
Hobnobs are good...chocolate Hobnobs are better but they nick your brew!
Chocolate digestives are excellent...but leave your fingers in a mess!
"
Exactly this, many biscuits just ruin your tea. I like delicate teas, Lapsang, Earl Grey ect. I wouldn't dream of dunking anything with chocolate or a cream in there. |

I’ll admit I only drink tea to dunk or it’s coffee |

"The kind of ginger nut that's so hard you can break your teeth on.
Absolute teeth shatterers
That's why you dunk. To keep the dentist away
Makes a ginger nut real soggy…soggy nuts…oof"
The ones I'm thinking about - Arnotts of the NSW variety - go from teeth breaking to about the hardness of shortbread. Soggy biscuits are awful |

You've made a good point here, especially as I also enjoy teas such as Lapsang Souchong, Earl Grey, Chai, etc.
Does the choice of biscuit also depend on which blend of tea it is? |

I'd dunk in an English breakfast or similar, maybe a bad to moderate chai.
If it's got chocolate on it the only acceptable drink to dunk in is a hot chocolate, in the vein of a TimTam slam |

Yes, builder's tea - have at it. Other subtler blends absolutely not |

Ginger Nuts. They go soft on the outside but maintain the structural integrity for ages so no chance of it breaking off in the mug. Objectively the best dunking biscuit |

I knew someone would be able to eulogise that much better than I did |

Same. I do like a custard cream in tea (Earl Grey), but for coffee I'd go for something chocolately, like a penguin (are we classing that as a biscuit?) X |

TimTam slams with Penguins are also acceptable |

Dunking biscuits is an abomination when biscuit makers have worked hard to ensure their products are crisp and hard. Life imprisonment with hard labour for all dunkers. Nothing worse than when your sieving the dregs of your morning cuppa through your teeth of soggy biscuit particles. |

I vaguely know what a TimTam slam is, but am afraid to google it lol
X "
Bite both ends of the TimTam (essentially a Penguin) off, use it like a straw with hot chocolate |
