It has been revealed today that last year 282.000 prescriptions were issued for Viagra to men over the age of 70.
7000 of those prescriptions were for men over 90, the oldest being 99.
Any thoughts? |

Is that number of people or actual issues of the prescription .
Because if its monthly prescription divide that number by 12.
Also viagra is used to treat pulmonary hypertension and other medical problems besides ED. |

I'm wondering how easy is it to get it prescribed. I've heard you can ask for it if you have diabetes (maybe a special type, I don't know). Or do you just tell the doctor you are experiencing ED. Is there some sort of examination they do to confirm you have ED. And if you are prescribed, is it a 1 off prescription, or can you have it on repeat, day monthly? |

"If a 90+ year old is getting a prescription for Viagra he should also receive a long service medal as well.
Fair play chaps "
With this context, would it be weird if I went to the local bingo Hall and approached all the elderly gents with "thank you for your service" |

You can walk in to Boots, fill in a form and the pharmacist will let you buy some. If you want it on a repeat prescription then you'll need to see a doctor and talk through your symptoms and usually a couple of checks - blood pressure etc.
No they don't ask you to whap it out and demonstrate |

If you discuss the matter with your GP and there is a valid medical reason why you might need it, you can get a repeat prescription for 4 pills a month. You still have to pay for the prescription, unless exempt for any of the usual reasons, but if you have any other medications as well it could be worth doing an annual pre-payment.
But anyway, as far as the NHS is concerned you are only allowed 1 shag a week (I've got credit for hundreds by now I should think!). |

"My thoughts are that it would be nice if women's health issues related to sex were taken as seriously as men's health issues relating to sex."
Viagra isn't just for sex, it can help other health conditions that affect the older population.

People with diabetes both types are prone to neuropathy in the extremities (hands and feet as well as other parts) . If asked a GP will prescribe it as a repeat prescription assuming blood pressure is not an issue. In Scotland prescriptions are free to all |
