12 years a sl**e , powerful and emotional as a book and a film
Also Goodfellas was pretty close to the book

Yes Jaws has a lot more to it than a shark, also Hunt for red October excellent book, cardinal of the Kremlin is also a good book but never made into a film that I know of. |

The Lord of the Rings.
Difficult, book to adapt because of all the history, exposition and just the immense sense of cultural depth. Peter Jackson and his team did a remarkably good job of preserving the spirit and overall travel of the books.
Of course I have quibbles, as a die-hard Tolkien fan, but one always does with adaptations. I recognise the achievement of bringing my favourite book to the screen. |

RED, most graphic novel adaptions are weak, but the film is a blast of fun and energy, far better than the stark and simplistic source material by Warren Ellis.
Kingsman: Secret Service. The graphic novel "Secret Service" by Mark Millar, David Gibbons and Matthew Vaughn, was a great, affectionate, tongue in cheek take on James Bond. The film stands up well with it. |

Divergent series even though they never finshed it and were changeing the ending if they did
that is the series I am now reading, 3 books I believe, still on the first."

I read the hobbit some years ago due to seeing LOTR, looks like I have some reading to do over the winter months. |

Gone girl good book and movie, and I have read most of John Grisham books, the client and the rainmaker are my favs.
The lovely bones I thought I hadn't seen but I now remember it beautiful movie. |

'The Remains of the Day' felt just like I wanted the book to feel, if that makes sense...
(I read/saw both quite a long time after they were originally written)
And 'Fever Pitch' is perfect, but I'm predisposed to like that. |

Nor should it! As I remember it had a weird narrative or structure too, all that stuff about Bono and various famous people. I never saw the film but always wondered how she went about adapting such a written and also pretty unfilmable experience!

Well said, that man. Lazenby is much better than has ever been given credit for. In fact, he's physically the closest to the books, and his demeanour is also spot-on with Fleming.

I think it was a good attempt, and there are excellent parts, but I think they were worried about fans reactions and treated the graphic novel with too much respect. A bit like Pink Floyd who used to do exact replicas of their album tracks in concert. Open it up and let it breathe. But I have friends who think it strayed too far from the source. |

The film was very close to the graphic apart from one obvious change but it just seemed to be missing something. Can't say exactly what, but the graphic was far superior  |

I loved the graphic novel, and also the movie which I agree follows some different narratives. |
