That's a different band.
exactly who are depeche mode? 2020 band? "

1980
To be fair the last (new) band I liked was formed in 1999, but became more mainstream in 2015. |

"Nice guys.
I played bass along side them at a birthday party many years ago. Alison Moyet also sang. It's just about my only claim to fame.
I used to sing backing for her"
I fancied the pants off her back in the day

She was a proper diva. A right madame to work with. |

"Who's going to see them on the 27th? I am. Anyone know of any afterparty or fan-events after the show?"
Do you mean Manchester on the 29th. Seen a couple of mentions about after show parties on Facebook. If I see it again I will PM you. |

I remember going to see them when they were supporting Genesis in Guildford back in the day...audience looked like attending two different concerts! Oh those pretty new romantic boys! |

"Loved them in early days when they were keyboard only , black celebration is class "
Loved Black Celebration.
My favourite band of my high school years and still one of my fave bands.
Ultra was a great album too. |

Recently I had the opportunity to see them for free and turned it down.
(This is more a reflection on me, not them.. I'm getting old.)
I've always liked them.
Very unique sound. |

^^^^ you’ll have a great night ^^^^
I’ve been a DM fan since I bought “See You” on 7” vinyl via mail order in 1982; still have it today
Watched them all over the world since and probably considered a super fan,.
As a live experience, the Devotional tour always sticks in my mind; Dave’s long hair and amazing 70’s vibe clothes, oh how he rocked the fucking house down!
Yes, he was higher then, than the cost of filling your tank with fuel in the UK now, but boy did he sing!
They’re a little formulaic these days, especially live and I’ve never been sure of the “other two”, but they’ve stuck with it and arguably rely on them now since Fletch has gone
Still, devotionally walking in my shoes |

Remember them in the 80’s and thinking they’d just be a group that one minute here next gone. So was surprised they did so well but actually listening to their music I shouldn’t have been that surprised.
I remember watching some Hollywood film and ‘a matter of lust’ suddenly played, now it’s an all time favourite. |

I know there are a lot of DM purists here, I saw them live a couple of times during the violator tour. If you want to try something to expand on that;
Forced movement are a newish band, they sound similar,
If like me you loved the violator sound, then Camouflage, sensor album. Tracks like lost, and I’ll follow behind, will take you back to that sound.
We also love Alan wilders solo stuff, Recoil, Breath control is a naughty track
Martin gore, counterfeit ep.
But there is still only one DM. |

Also nothing to do with DM directly , but we love that synth sound, the Vince Clark plinky
Nation of language, new band but so cool
On Division St, stick with it, Vince Clarke inspired
sorry to steal thread, but we love music. |

"Yes, we are both fans.
Try a group called Forced Movement, sounds very depeche Mode, try the track ground zero, but a lot of these is very DM, I prefer there stuff to some of the new DM"
Gosh they do sound like DM. The vocal is straight from Dave Gahan. Good tip - thanks. |

I have seen them several times since their debut singles..pretty amazing the career they have carved out, by playing arenas and stadium's worldwide...saw them at Twickenham last year but did not see them on recent tour. |
