I took a week off the forums

And came back to the same threads and the same posters!
Nothing much changes around here does it? Not saying that's a bad thing of course.
There's almost something reassuring about taking a break and coming back to see the same few people providing most of the threads here.
Do you like that the forums rarely change, in personnel and topics? |

I agree about the change part. I see so many threads I don't even bother clicking on because I've seen them so often.

Thing is, the place doesn't really promote change.
This isn't a shot at you, but this thread has been done before. This question sort of gets brought up, the lack of new threads etc pointed out. Everything has been done before, very little is original.
Usually anytime something original or at least modified is attempted then it doesn't get traction. I've tried in the past. I've tried to do all kinds of threads, thought provoking, new kinds of flirting "games" etc and they just fall flat. Don't progress very far beyond 20 replies if that (and that's often including my own attempts to force involvement by replying to others in them.
So I gave up in doing so, putting effort in to trying to make threads of my own work. I rarely attempt to create threads because what's the point in the end when a genuine "interesting" thread gets overlooked in favour of the "trash" silly bullshit.
People just flock to the same threads they usually do. That's not generally a bad thing but there really is zero innovation most of the time and the interests of people tend to prove it. |

I don't think the topics will change that much as Fab is a vacuum where the same questions will persist. The people probably change but a few will always remain, or cop out by going UNLOS and then coming back  |

Do you know what I don't particularly care for? And yes, I'm not saying you've done this OP. It's people bemoaning the forums. Like they're some sort of king ruling over the court and are saying "do better monkeys". Be the change you want to be people. Start the threads. It doesn't matter if it gets one or two replies. It's not a tailored forum for you but you can have an enjoyable experience.

That's what I was thinking!
The OP may actually have missed JeanieTV's account suddenly vanishing, though without any fanfare (it reminded me of ErectJim, though I wasn't around when he suddenly went UNLOS apparently). Of course the OP will still see things like Tom posting, but that will only stop when the 'news' does I think.
It's surely impossible to keep up with all the threads that can happen here. Have you seen the archives? The Lounge alone gets around 3,000 different threads a month, which is about a 100 a day - and they are quite hard to Search too. And there are the other fora too of course.
As someone who tends to be on and off for months at a time, some things do seem to remain the same here, and sometimes the same people come and go too. On the whole I've found it to be less 'dramatic' over the years though.

I took 9 months off.
The forums have changed a little possibly or more likely my perception of them has.
A lot of the same threads appear because ultimately there are only so many ways of getting attention or conversations to be had. |
