I like when a thread like this comes up. It prompts me to go look at my counters.
4 months 2 weeks off of nicotine.
9 months, 29 days and 22 hours since I smoked a cigarette!!! I'm about to hit double figures.
I wouldn't have looked otherwise.

Even breathing is dangerous according to where you live.
What I think we're talking about is how dangerous is vaping.
Compared to smoking, it's 99.9% healthier.
Compared to just inhaling air, it's a little more dangerous.
But breathing oxygen is more dangerous than breathing air !!!!
Vaping has been proven to be an incredible aid to quit smoking.
I'm a vaper myself.
What is annoying is the disposable vape just left lying around like discarded cigarette butt's.

I've never done drugs (I think I'm too intelligent for that), I've gambled at a race course but couldn't care less whether I'd do it again or not, I drink when I want to not when I need to (big difference) but smoking / vaping ! I feel sorry for the people who are so desperate for it before getting on a train, standing outside in the rain and cold ! Very very sad |

Yes, I remember all the cries of “its not bad for you, it’s only steam”.
For something that was brought about as a smoking aid, seems prevalent in young people who’ve never smoked a cigarette in their lives.
I agree on banning single use disposable vapes. They’re unsightly, have lithium batteries and plastic in them.
A reusable vape is made of aluminium and has a lithium battery also, but it’s rechargeable and reused so much less wasteful. |

My buddy says the same thing. He’ll limit himself to 3 cigs at work but with a vape he just hits it all the time

I don't think it's ever been claimed it's safe, it's always been a safer alternative to smoking due to less carcinogenic ingredients.
Alcohol isn't safe yet it's legal.
Breathing in air in most cities isn't safe but we do it.
Even deodorant isn't safe but we use it.

I totally understand where your coming from and I can only speak from my own experiences..When I was younger it was a cool thing to do and popular and by the time you grew up and realised it wasn’t very cool you were already addicted ..
I’m glad that smoking isn’t a cool thing anymore quite the opposite however it is worrying when I see kids as young as 12 vaping as it was designed to help people stop smoking however it has simply replaced fags in being a cool thing to do with younger kids .. |

Weird to think of a bunch of kids all stood around sucking on cigs they don’t like, but they don’t want to just admit it and not do it. Gotta look cool.

Vaping is incredibly dangerous because it is targeted towards kids. The flavours, the colours and the trendy brands of the disposal ones are very tempting. Plus they are thrown all over the streets, many with the contents still inside. I'd never smoke as I cannot inhale but I've started vaping because of sensory needs/oral fixation. I just suck the vape in and blow it out. The taste and sensation is very satisfying and I'm a 50 year old woman. The government don't give a flying fuck as long as its taxable and that money keeps rolling in. It's a product that should not exist but somehow its got the go ahead - same as energy drinks. |

It’s an addiction though. I can’t understand how people drink themselves into oblivion, choose alcohol over their families. People who gamble everything away. People who take any kind of d*ugs. If you don’t do it you’ll never understand it.

Plus they are thrown all over the streets, many with the contents still inside. I'd never smoke as I cannot inhale but I've started vaping because of sensory needs/oral fixation. I just suck the vape in and blow it out. The taste and sensation is very satisfying and I'm a 50 year old woman. The government don't give a flying fuck as long as its taxable and that money keeps rolling in. It's a product that should not exist but somehow its got the go ahead - same as energy drinks. "

Let’s ban coffee while we’re at it. Not to mention that the sugar tax on soft drinks don’t even apply to sugar free energy drinks so the idea that the government is profiting off them is some conspiracy level misinformation
The government can’t be responsible for everything unless we want to give up all our freedoms. At some point we have to hind ourselves responsible for the choices we make. While also balancing the powers we allow the government to keep us safe and protected |

There is plenty of evidence to suggest that addiction has a genetic component, but it is now also being suggested that the behaviour of mothers while carrying their babies may also play a huge part.
Besides the genetic factor there are many psychological factors .
It doesn't matter what kind of substance we are using or consuming...as long as it hits and overwhelms our pleasure circuit ,easily can change our pathways and become an addiction.
Even food!
I don't believe that there are many people that are not addicted to something.
As for vaping...it's definitely a harmful addiction . |

Please remember with addiction its not a choice when it becomes addiction, ppl don't choice to put that addiction over everything else, there a mental obsession and Compulsion to fulfill, amd that urge is indescribable unless yiu e experienced it.

I can’t, however, see how someone could place them in the “they shouldn’t exist” category based on a dislike of smoking and vaping
