Driving to see someone today, we saw in greater London, south of the river a ULEZ van. The funny thing was there were two people blocking the cams on this van with placards

I was staggered as i was not aware of this,

Have you seen ULEZ vans in your area

I suspect many of these vans are being deployed to sites where cameras have been cut down by the 'blade runners'

Our cameras are still working so no mobile ones here, for now.

I haven't noticed much difference in traffic along my road.

Yes they are around, just search online for "ULEZ camera vans"

Thinking about it the van was in a busy area where cams can be by-passed. I may be wrong

I think some people with older cars that have to pay a charge may be zig-zaging out of side roads. However, this van was on a main strech of raod but I've not noted any ulez cams there

It is a shame that they bother.

They could gain far more politically if they quietly admitted it was a mistake and switched off all the cameras and let the diminishing number of cars involved just fade away with time anyway.

I'd not fancy the death of my child, because we decided to not bother about pollution.

I look forward to the fines and taxes on the hoards of parents outside every school, morning and afternoon- engines running, blocking the roads, just so little Tarquin doesn't have to walk or cycle half a mile like most of us did the other side of the millennium

This is about making money not pollution.

A new V12 6 litre petrol sports can is ok to drive around polluting 24/7 but a 1.5 diesel is not.

A V12 does about 15mpg and diesel is about 60mpg.

ULEZ vans are parked on busy roads to get the most money.

Sooner Khan is out and all this ULEZ CAZ is out the better.

Cash grab. Pay the charge...'pollute' away.

You never see those in the lake district. The most inconvenient thing you see on our roads is sheep or escaped cows. Often a dead bird or 10. I've had to move a few before because it was right in the middle of a crossing

Hopefully that idiot will not get voted back in. He is a money grabber. If I lived in greater London now I wouldn't be voting for him. Lucky for me I moved out to sunny Northamptonshire and no ulez

Additional problem is that he and his predecessor have sown the seeds of the idea to other money grabbers around the country.

"Cash grab. Pay the charge...'pollute' away."

This is my viewpoint. What do the do with the money? Read conflicting studies re pollution difference. My favourite part a freedom of information request for Birmingham revealed how many council vehicles hadn't paid.

I have an electric car so none of this affects me directly but I fail to see the improvement or purpose of doing it.

If you want clean air then ban all vehicles, you cant have a pay £12 and pollute as much as you like in 24hrs.

It sounds more romantic than "perpetrators of criminal damage"

Either that, or it's the usual "we didn't pay attention watching the movie and don't understand it, but evoke cultural references anyway", because a bladerunner in the Ridley Scott sense is someone snuffing out the humanity of an underclass for a repressive regime

The problem is that when the Mayor held a consultation on the subject it was shown that expanding the ULEZ zone would have a negligable impact and public opinion was strongly against it and yet he has decided to press ahead with it anyway.

And, perhaps you could explain how the Mayor charging non-compiant vehicles to drive within the zone is going to improve air quality. He's not stopping them coming in, just charging them to continue to pollute, so it's not going to make the slightest difference, other than to line his pockets
