My nan’s spare room.

I’m sorry I’ve just cum

Is a great way of getting rid of nuisance telesales people.

How do you get rid of them?

For the record I do have empathy for people in telesales, I know I couldn’t do it.

I said no thank you to a woman offering a free phone and she exclaimed "But it's a free phone!".

I replied "Yes, but the contract isn't free is it, or are you giving me my calls, texts and data for free too?".

I usually ask them to hold the line while I answer the doorbell. Then just leave them hanging on the line until they get fed up of waiting.

They are wasting my time, so I try to waste some of theirs.

Just around the corner

There seems to have been a plague of them over the last couple of weeks. My phone block list is longer than my Fab one.

Most inbound calls I listen to the first few seconds then hang up without saying anything

Being registered with the Telephone Preference Service, I gon't get telesales calls. The only nuisance calls I do get tend to be pathetic scam calls pretending to be Sky broadband. They tend to hang up when I ask them why Sky would be calling me when I'm not a Sky customer. Did have the occasional Amazon Prime scam call, and they really don't like it when you point out to them that Amazon don't have your landline number so how could they possibly be calling you on it.

It's only scam calls that I get on my landline now, and I only kept the landline for the purpose of Broadband, but with changes in broadband connections coming with full fibre, I'll be ditching it soon

I don't torment or tease them or leave them hanging on the line. They are human beings trying to earn a living in a non caring capitalist society. I don't like the calls but I say ' no thank you - have a great day' right away and hang up and block their number.

Then I carry on with my day unrattled.

I’ve done sales and have no empathy and wouldn’t want any myself. It’s a job and a choice like any other. If they are any good they will hang up on you when they realise there is no opportunity, if they pester you they are crap

Unless they are scam calls, I go for "Thanks, but no thanks" option. These are people trying to earn a living
