I'm currently reading Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill and whilst i havent finished it yet, I've had more than a few late nights kissing myself in its pages. |

A few months ago now. I'd unearthed my copy of Shantaram and got lost in the familiarity of the words once pored over, the bustle of cities richly created. Can you tell it's one of my favourites? :D What were you reading OP? |

If by late you mean after my bedtime of 8pm. Every night! I often end up falling asleep reading too. It really grounds me and makes me forget about any worries in my life

"I was up all last night reading The Ritual by Adam Nevill, very tense, didn't want to put it down until I'd finished. The movie was cool, but the novel surpasses it."
Novels are wonderful for that aren't they?! Although I'd love to see the book I read as a movie... |

"How do you stay awake ? I only have to pick up a book and I nod straight off ..... there's always a book i'm 'reading' on my bed covers in the morning. "
Because I get bloody obsessed! I was on the sofa last night and didn't realise until it was 1am and I figured... might as well keep going now the damage is done haha. |

Fellow book worms, when is the last time you stayed up too late reading a delectable bit of literacy?"
The last one I did that with is Celestine prophecy it had me gripped OP |

I loooove re reading old classics. I've just finished a lec croucher, going to pick up book 3 in court of thorns and roses next. I've read a few chapters but didn't get into the headspace. I can't seem to pace my reading. It's either a few pages or the whole thing. Whoops... |

I’ve been reading Tokyo Cancelled. It’s a mish-mash of short stories all told by a bunch of unconnected people stuck in an airport together overnight. The last few stories lost me a bit, I was thinking of giving up on it … but then the one I started reading the other night, I couldn’t put down. A not-quite-human man with endless life gets caught up with an older man dying of a strange plant-based disease while Paris goes into a pandemic lockdown around them. Strange and beautiful. |

"A couple of nights ago ,I was reading a new thriller I didn't want to put down.
It had lots of twists and turns in it , sadly had to end though and on to a new TM Logan book now."
This sounds riveting. It's so amazing how one medium can be so effective and cross genre. I think even more so than film sometimes. |

I have jumped on the pod cast bus a little, but some of them annoy me,and the stupid adverts that constantly interrupt them
Currently reading....again lol.....the last fighting Tommy,by Harry Patch.....who was the last surviving Tommy from ww1 who went over the top,he was 109 years old when he died, absolute fascinating story,I fully recommend it |

"I havent read any books in ages and i used to be a real bookworm. I think the last book(s) i got sucked into was The Witcher series"
I used to be a huge book worm but did stop. I go through phases. It's nice to be able to pick up and put down. I sometimes feel like there's a snobbery around books and other mediums. Like... reading makes you better? And there's shame in not consistently reading?
Reading is amazing but no one should ever feel shamed for how they spend their time. I recently fucked off the idea of having to read big fancy books and instead just read things that bring me joy. Slightly light hearted romance normally does the trick. I love it. And I will feel no shame! |

I went through a period of reading nothing but true crime for a while. Had my own mini library of them but they start to get in on you after a while. I got rid of them all.
Yes theres definitely a snobbery around it. If you havent read whats deemed as literary masterpieces then youre looked down upon. I endes up reading my daughter famous five books one night coz i was bored. The memories |

Have you tried audiobooks? I don't get on with them myself but I know plenty of people who struggle to focus on reading but enjoy listening. |

my book shelves are full up,I have loads in the attic boxed up,I like to swap with the ones out from time to time, and have loads loaned out to people (I know exactly who has what by the way lol)
Any unwanted books I have, and don't want,I take to my local pub, there's a book swap shelf in there,so leave mine, and take anything that catches my eye from there ,our village also has a bookswap hut,so do the same there too |

"I'm up late with a book pretty well every night. Currently re-reading all of Iain Banks, all of Alasdair Gray, and filling in any spare time with other bits and bobs."
It's ages since I read an "unputdownable", but this has made me want to re-read The Crow Road. I love that book. |

What is this "getting rid of books"? Once a book enters my house it's pretty well there to stay. I can't even estimate how many I have but it's got to be multiple thousands. |

Currently on a non-fiction kick.
Family member bought me a book on the International Brigades for Xmas, by Giles Tremlett.
Then we went to Barcelona & did a Civil War/Revolutionary Barcelona tour so i bought Tremlett's Ghosts of Spain, about how Spain is dealing with the residue of the Fascist era & the transition to democracy.
Next up is the book from the tour, Forgotten Places: Barcelona & the Spanish Civil War.
It's a period of modern history i knew almost knothing about & it's been both fascinating & eye-opening delving into it. |
