I'm just curios. What would you prefer as a means of a polite "no thanks"?

Would you rather see your message has been deleted, or read and left?

This isn't a post about moaning by the way, I'm just wondering how people prefer to deal with messages that aren't of interest. Or how would you prefer as a non verbal way of being told there's no interest?

Deleted. If it's left on read, I presume they're just waiting for a better time/ mood to reply. If it's been deleted then that's pretty clear.

I usually give a no thanks. Sometimes people are gracious, sometimes I get called a stupid fat cunt for wasting their time by responding

Everyone is different.

I haven't sent a message in 3 years but back when I did I always deleted the messages as soon as I sent them so I had no idea if they were read or deleted and I didn't worry about them

"i delete them as soon as i send them so i never know if they are read / unread or deleted"

Forgive my ignorance, but doesn't deleting a sent message not delete it at their end too? I assumed because it says "delete thread" that it would delete at the other end simultaneously

Right behind you…. Boo

I rarely send messages and if I do I do not expect them to be read let alone receive a reply. I certainly do not fixate about it

Can you see that the sender has deleted?

Read not deleted I just leave it and see what happens

Read and deleted I block so they don’t show up in my search results again

If it's left on read for more than a couple of days I assume they're not interested.

If it's deleted then that's a clear no.

Sometimes I respond to say they're not for me but experience tells me to just delete to avoid abuse.

I'm ambivalent about this.

I rarely look at the sent items folder, I go in there to delete the contents.

I concentrate on my inbox its a far more productive use of my fab time and energy

It doesn't take me long to manage my inbox unfortunately. A microsecond most of the time haha

I used to take the view that if it's deleted that's a not interested, as that's the view generally expressed on here.

But then I've had women say I didn't mean to delete that. I did it by accident or bulk deleted.

I am someone who doesn't really like to 'read' into things or make assumptions. I tend to check my understanding too. It is better to be explicit with me, but I appreciate there are many reasons why women choose not to.

I am also terrible at replying sometimes, due to ADHD. It's really no indication of my level of interest.

I’m happy with a polite no thanks. But then I can take it without resorting to abuse.

Definately delete. I don't really get it why people mark/leave messages unread but each to their own and how they manage their inbox.

Depending on the person that's messaged me, if it's a blank profile then I just delete but if I can actually see what they look like and I'm not attracted I just say sorry but there's no attraction for me.

I have no preference on how they let me know they aren't attracted to me.

I don’t allow anyone to initially message me anymore.

I do if I lose interest, or feel that the other person isn’t really that interested, I just block, delete thread and move on.

The only games that I am interested in playing are sexual ones with interesting people

I agree. It's nice to receive a polite response, even if it's a no, but can understand why most wouldn't.
