"I remember when summers were hot and winters were cold.
And when over 40 year olds dressed their age."
Some people did look a lot older than their actual age though depending on what they wore or their hair style. |

I'm so old that when my family went on long trips through Europe in our Ford Esc0rt estate car, us four kids could lie down and sleep with the back seats down as the car was being driven. Also if we were all sat in the rear of the car there were no such things as seat belts.
(888 honestly, cant even type the name of the car without Fab blocking it!) |

"I’m so old teachers hitting kids was only just abolished when I started primary. Anyone at school when it was still ok and did you ever get hit? "
I am so old that the teachers used to either cane us or use a plimsol on our bare bottoms.
I am so old that it was not unusual for the teacher to throw the blackboard rubber** at us when they were angry !
** for those to young to know what a black board rubber was, we did not have white boards, we had black boards and chalk, with a piece of wood with some form of felt on one side for wiping down the board to remove the lesson |

I'm so old that in my first job we had a typing pool with secretaries** typing up our hand written letters and when they came back to us, we had to identify corrections and they would use tippex to correct them. They also made a second file copy which was created through the use of carbon paper***
** for those to young to know what a secretary was, she was a gobby woman, possibly a spinster, who sat in a room with a vast number of other gobby women and complained when you brought them any work, plus deliberately made mistakes so that you had to bring it back so they could complain again about your poor hand writing.
*** for those of you to young to know what carbon paper is, it consists of sheets of black paper that create one or more copies simultaneously with the creation of an original document and was sold at Wilko****
**** for those of you who do not know what Wilko was, it was a cheap shop selling amongst other things carbon paper, and close down this week. |

Granted I'm from the USA, but it looks like we all did the same things "back in the day" just different names for it.
I'm so old I remember when schools had corporal punishment (spanking) and I was in the last class in high school that we could actually bring guns to school. (I lived up north and he had hunting season.) |

We used to call it killer rugby.
You got rid of the ball as soon as possible.

I'm so old that I remember Bonnie and Clyde by Georgie Fame when I was 7 or 8 playing at a friend's birthday party and the thrill of touching his older sister's bum as we danced the afternoon away! |

Collecting the bread bag ties and putting them on the brake lines on your bike.

I remember when breakfast cereals gave you colourful plastic thingies to clip on the wheels of the bike.

It was ok not to wear a seat belt while your parents drove the car home a little but squiffy and leaving you in it with a packet of crisps and a lemonade while they had a cheeky drink on the way home from the beach and social services were not a thought |

"I'm so old my first computer was a zx Spectrum

Being a little older, my first computer was the Sinclair ZX81. It had a tiny 1K of RAM but it could do floating point arithmetic and I learned BASIC programming. Never managed to get a cassette player to store data though. |

I'm so old... Well I'm not, or at least I didn't think so until last night. I watched Gremlins with the kids last night. Then I realised the release date was 1984. Then I realised the movie was as old as I am. Then I realised the movie is nearly 40 years old. How the hell is that movie nearly 40 years old? In my head films that are 40 years old are like old black and white Westerns. Then worst of all that made me realise I am very nearly 40 years old

"So old I can remember traveling in the back of cars with no rear seatbelts (ape). "
My step dad invented the people carrier, Bedford van with deckchairs and boxes as seats.
Hit a corner to fast or break to hard and you flew around the back
Happy days indeed |

I seem to remember our first television was a Bush and had a 9" screen in a large cabinet.
We also had a large magnifying glass on a stand which you placed in front of the screen to give you a more viewable picture.

My wardrobe didn't haven't any purple in it.
