Single. Means no one has any claim/expectation to my time or energy, although they can be freely given. And I don’t have to factor in the views or lifestyle of anyone else. Again, unless I choose to. |

To me, if someone says "be single", that tends to imply the person has had a negative/bad experience with a previous or present romantic relationship with someone and they don't want to the in that situation any longer.
I'm currently single. |

Pretty much this, though not always my last relationship actually ended on great terms to the extent im still friends with her to this day, however don't want another relationship whatsoever |

Or if it is a statement on here, then that tends to mean "I want to play with a person that is free'd from any attached human relationships so there won't be any potential issues concerning those attached people." |

It means I can have as many Goddamn boots and handbags dotted around my flat as i please. Drinking rum for breakfast is not met with judgement. Any stains on my mattress are my own business. I go out when and with who I want and roll in whenever.
It's very selfish but after years of serial monogamy I owe it to myself to be selfish/self endulgent |

Single just means to me that I have no one to answer to and that I don't have any drama. If I was ever to go on an actual date, the first question I would always ask is "Do you have anyone in your life that thinks they are something to you in a close way or thinks they are in a relationship with you? And what would give them that impression?"

In a sense, in terms of lifestyle certainly. I am not sharing my life with a partner.
I'd probably be using a different descriptor in that scenario though. E.g. I live alone, but I am in a relationship. Single leaves a little too much room for misconceptions.

Single means your not in a romantic relationship with another person(s).
You don't feel obligated to divide free time to someone romantically and you don't go places with someone romantically neither spend quality time with another person romantically neither introduced a person to family and close friends as your significant other |

Now im about to get shot or staked to a post by my bolocks but can we remember this is a swingers site and not a singles dating site. Why shouldnt married swingers people meet as singles. Married women do the same as married men. We all swingers. |

Single.
Unlike the terms girlfriend and wife I'm not committed to anyone, with no responsibility to them or us and don't need to meet the expectations that come with those labels or behave in a certain manner accordingly. It also means I have no expectations from a boyfriend or husband who have to behave like the labels imply with responsibilities to me and us along with commitments.
I hate labels. I don't want to stick a label on someone and lump them with a whole set of commitments, responsibilities, and give myself expectations of that person and make them behave a certain way towards me for the sake of a label. That seems like an indirect way of getting someone to conform to something whe I didn't even create the label in the first place. I'm just confirming to what people define it as and sticking it to someone else.
Is the label of boyfriend a correct one in ENM when most would assume that label comes with monogamy in the vanilla world?
Whatever happened to just being together when you want to and just doing your (as in both of you) thing? why stick a label on it? And why do you have to progress to the next levels label as if what you had in the first place wasn't enough?
The expression of going with the flow just comes undone doesn't it?
This also applies to the terms Fuck Buddy and Friend with Benefits.
Plus more if you want to get even deeper.

Am I single?
On paper, no. For now.
But I live alone, sleep alone, spend the bulk of my time alone. Have nobody to be accountable to and nobody dependant on me, or me them.
Wasn't the life I'd planned, but it's the life I find myself living. So I guess in reality I'm as 'single' as those that have never tied the knot. |

I do that, I like to have a splash of colour in the front room. Often it's carnations because if you get them while they're still in bud rather than fully open, they can last two or even three weeks. If I buy a small bunch of a different colour every week, I can mix old ones that are still fine with the new ones, and usually have two vases full of mixed colours going at any time for only a couple of quid a week.
Sometimes I vary by getting small roses (no one else is going to buy me red roses) or Alstroemeria because I like the stripey flowers. |
